Job summary

GK CONSULTING PTE. LTD. is assisting a client in Singapore to recruit a Senior Electrical Engineer for high-precision automated machinery.

You will own the electrical lifecycle from schematic design to on-site commissioning, collaborating with mechanical, motion control and software teams. The role requires 10+ years of hands-on experience, expertise in EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical, and strong PLC programming skills across major platforms.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on electrical design and control experience on automated machinery or precision equipment.
• Proficient in EPLAN Electric P8 or AutoCAD Electrical.
• PLC programming experience on major platforms (Siemens TIA Portal/ STEP 7, Rockwell Studio 5000, Beckhoff TwinCAT, Omron Sysmac Studio).
• Working knowledge of industrial networks (EtherCAT, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, CANopen).
• Familiarity with machine safety standards CE, UL, NFPA 79.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical schematics, power distribution and control panel layouts using EPLAN Electric P8 or AutoCAD Electrical.
• Specify and select electrical components: PLCs, PACs, motion controllers, sensors and safety relays.
• Design and implement safety circuits (E-stop, light curtains) per ISO 13849 and IEC 60204.
• Develop and test PLC, HMI and motion control programs in IEC 61131-3 languages.
• Plan cable routing and grounding to minimise EMI and protect signal integrity.
• Lead on-site commissioning, testing and debugging.

About the Company

Our client is a leading global precision technology and manufacturing group. Its Singapore R&D centre is building a new team to develop high-precision automated equipment. This is an opportunity to shape the electrical and control architecture of new machines from the ground up.

The Role

You will own the full electrical lifecycle of high-precision automated machinery, from schematic design and control cabinet layout to PLC programming, safety systems and on-site commissioning. You will work closely with the mechanical, motion control and software teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical schematics, power distribution and control panel layouts using EPLAN Electric P8 or AutoCAD Electrical
• Specify and select electrical components: PLCs, PACs, motion controllers, servo/stepper drives, sensors, safety relays and power supplies
• Design and implement machine safety circuits (E-stop, safety interlocks, light curtains) in line with ISO 13849 and IEC 60204
• Develop and test PLC, HMI and motion control programs in IEC 61131-3 languages (Structured Text, Ladder)
• Plan cable routing, shielding and grounding to minimise EMI and protect signal integrity in sensitive precision equipment
• Lead power-up testing, I/O checkout, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and on-site machine debugging

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation or a related field
• 10+ years of hands-on electrical design and control experience on automated machinery, semiconductor equipment or precision machines
• Proficient in EPLAN Electric P8 or AutoCAD Electrical
• Hands-on PLC programming experience on at least one major platform: Siemens (TIA Portal / STEP 7), Rockwell / Allen-Bradley (Studio 5000), Beckhoff (TwinCAT) or Omron (Sysmac Studio)
• Working knowledge of industrial networks: EtherCAT, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, CANopen
• Good understanding of machine safety and electrical standards: CE, UL, NFPA 79
• Comfortable with hands-on work: multimeters, oscilloscopes, panel assembly and wiring
• Experience at an equipment maker / machine builder is a strong advantage
