Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking an EHS specialist to drive safety, environmental compliance and wellbeing across our Singapore site. You will develop and implement robust EHS programs, lead risk assessments and investigations, and serve as a trusted advisor to managers across functions.

The role requires a Diploma/Degree in Engineering, EHS discipline, and certification; prior experience in manufacturing or laboratory environments is preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Engineering, Environmental, Health & Safety, Science, or a related discipline.
• Certified Workplace Safety Officer is a MUST.
• Relevant EHS certification/registration preferred, with at least 3 years of experience in manufacturing, pharma, or lab environments.

DESCRIPTION:

• Responsible for ensuring workplace safety, environmental compliance, and employee wellbeing.
• Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive EHS programs while serving as a trusted advisor to leadership and functional managers.

• Contribute to our commitment to safety through proactive risk management, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 2 to 3 years of relevant experience
• Diploma/Degree in Engineering, Environmental, Health & Safety, Science, or a related discipline (e.g., Biology or Chemistry).
• Certified Workplace Safety Officer is a MUST .
• Relevant professional EHS certification/registration preferred, where applicable to site and regulatory requirements, with at least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or laboratory environments.
• Strong knowledge of applicable local EHS regulations, EHS Management Systems, standards and best practices, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
• Knowledge and experience in Business Continuity Management (BCM) is an advantage, including supporting business continuity planning, exercises, plan reviews and continual improvement.
• Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Experience developing and delivering EHS training and awareness programs.
• Knowledge of industrial hygiene monitoring, hazardous materials management, and emergency preparedness and response.
• Ability to analyse EHS data and performance metrics to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organisation.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across functions.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
• Additional language skills may be valued.
• Ability to work in a cleanroom environment, conduct facility inspections, and respond to emergencies, including physical activity as necessary.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across functions and with EHS teams at other sites, including providing cross-site support and backup coverage as required.
