Job summary

NCS is seeking a DevOps & Automation Engineer in Singapore to develop automation playbooks, runbooks, and cookbooks for IT Managed Services. You will automate production tasks, ensure high availability of the automation platform, and oversee day-to-day automation operations.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Ansible, Terraform, Chef, CI/CD pipelines, and IaC across platforms, plus strong Linux/Unix/Windows administration and scripting skills.

Qualifications

Job Description

As aDevOps & Automation Engineer, you will develop automation playbooks, runbooks, and cookbooks to streamline tasks related to service delivery and operations. This role involves implementing automation use cases in production environments, including support for modifications and troubleshooting. You will also manage the automation platform to ensure high availability and seamless operational performance, execute and oversee automation playbooks as part of day-to-day operational activities and handle operational tasks related to both the automation processes and the underlying automation platform.

Additionally, the role requires hands-on expertise in scripting languages such as Ansible, Python, Terraform, Chef, Groovy, and PowerShell, as well as experience in CI/CD pipelines, DevOps platform management, and cloud-based automation. You should be proactive, possess strong problem-solving skills, and have a passion for automation and process optimization.

What will you do?

Automation Development & Implementation

• Understand automation concepts and their application in day-to-day service delivery and operations within IT Managed Services.
• Operationalise and manage automation development initiatives to enhance productivity.
• Develop automated scripts to test automation playbooks before deployment to production environments.
• Possess strong knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), including code control and versioning best practices.

Platform & Infrastructure Management

• Familiarity with integration of automation solutions with external tools such as ITSM platforms.
• Ensure compliance with ITSM integration and other relevant system tools.

Service Delivery & Operational Efficiency

• Understand automation concepts and their application in day-to-day service delivery and operations within IT Managed Services.
• Ensure process efficiency, automation stability, and system reliability.
• Drive continuous improvements through proactive automation development.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess:

Experience

• Ansible, Terraform, and Chefplatform setup, configuration, and management.
• Code versioning, CI/CD, and automated testing.
• DevOps platform setup and CI/CD pipeline deployment.
• End-to-end implementation of IaC in managed services projects.

Technical & Professional Skills

• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix/Windows Administration.
• Experience with automation/configuration management using Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MS SQL, and MySQL.
• Proficiency in source code control, versioning, and automation tool integration.
• Some knowledge in developing playbooks using RPA tools.
• Certifications in DevOps or automation tools(preferred).

Non-Technical / Soft Skills

• Strong problem-solving skillsand attention to detail.
• Passion for programming and automation, with a proactive approach to process improvements.
• Good understanding of systems, networking, and software development lifecycle.
• Self-motivated, team player, and able to work independently.

Qualifications

• Degree/Diplomain Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience in developing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)using scripting languages such as Ansible, Python, Chef (Ruby), Terraform (HCL), Groovy, PowerShell, or Bash.
