Job summary

Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) at NTU seeks a Research Associate to study earthquake hazards using remote sensing and space geodesy. You will work under a senior supervisor and collaborate on the InVEST Southeast Asia project to understand regional tectonics and cascading hazards in Singapore and beyond.

You will advance InSAR processing, tackle tropospheric/ionospheric effects, and develop deformation mapping. Strong Python/MATLAB/C languages and publishing in journals will be encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Master degree in Geophysics, Geomatics, Geodesy, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Natural Hazards or related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in remote sensing, image processing, inverse problems, and machine learning.
  • Experience analyzing geospatial/geodetic datasets; strong programming skills; English communication.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on fault geometry and rheology driving future earthquake hazards.
  • Rapid generation of disaster maps for earthquakes and volcanic activities.
  • Apply machine learning to improve InSAR deformation and time-series analysis.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate research into applications.
  • Publish about one peer-reviewed technical paper per year.
