Job summary

MCI Career Services invites an ophthalmologist to join a Singapore-based position within a public hospital framework. The role covers outpatient clinics, cataract evaluation, and comprehensive ocular trauma services, with involvement in advanced retinal procedures and imaging.

The successful candidate will hold a medical degree with a postgraduate ophthalmology qualification and be eligible for SAB accreditation; training and accreditation processes are supported by the agency.

Qualifications

• Degree in Medical and a post-graduate qualification in Ophthalmology (e.g. MMed, FRCOphth) which is registrable with the Singapore Medical Council
• Completed a recognised advanced specialist training programme in Ophthalmology and eligible to be accepted for accreditation by the SAB, Ministry of Health, and specialist registration with the Singapore Medical Council

Responsibilities

• Run outpatient clinics managing primary eye complaints, such as severe dry eyes, refractive errors, ocular surface infections, and general eye trauma.
• Perform routine and complex cataract evaluations, leveraging advanced lens technologies and microsurgical skills.
• Provide mandatory trauma, emergency room, and inpatient ward consult coverage at the assigned public hospital.
• Diagnostic workups and management for chronic, sight-threatening diseases.
• Conducting vitreo-retinal surgeries for complex cases like retinal detachments, advanced proliferative diabetic eye disease, vitreomacular traction, and macular holes.
• Evaluating advanced retinal imaging like Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), fundus fluorescein angiography, and visual fields.
