Job summary

Aon is seeking a Director of Risk & Resilience Engineering to lead risk consulting and loss prevention initiatives across Asia Pacific. You will manage client portfolios, develop risk-control opportunities, and conduct detailed risk surveys for underwriting purposes.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in risk engineering or property insurance, with knowledge of NFPA/IEEE standards, and are comfortable traveling regionally. Strong communication, project, and time-management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar required.
• Experience in risk engineering, resilience consulting, risk analysis, loss prevention, fire protection or related fields.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience, preferably in property risk surveys within property insurance.
• Familiarity with NFPA, IEEE, FM Datasheets and other industry standards.
• Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT and Copilot is a plus.
• Willingness to travel regionally.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good project and time management abilities.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage existing client portfolio in Asia Pacific.
• Identify opportunities for risk control and engineering business development.
• Conduct risk survey visits (mainly Southeast Asia) and prepare underwriting reports.
• Develop recommendations to improve risks and property protection.
• Provide risk consulting on loss prevention and business resilience.
• Liaise with brokers, insurers, and client representatives; deliver training workshops.

What the day will look like

• Manage existing client portfolio in Asia Pacific;
  • Type of industry includes telecom, data centres, commercial property, and manufacturing
  • Depending on your experience could extend to power/energy clients or business risk consulting
• Identify business development opportunities for risk control and engineering;
  • Work with broking team/country managers
• Accountability of budget performance and other projects as assigned;
• Conduct detailed risk survey visits (predominantly South East Asia);
• Prepare technical survey reports for underwriting purposes on a timely basis;
• Develop recommendations and requirements for improving risks;
• Provide risk consulting services for property protection and business resilience;
• Provide risk consulting services for risk analysis and risk quantification;
• Liaise with brokers, insurers (underwriters), clients’ representatives, etc.;
• Develop and deliver training workshops on loss prevention/risk management;

Skills and experience that will lead to success

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering or similar
• Experience in risk engineering, resilience consulting, risk analysis, loss prevention, fire protection or other relevant fields.
• Minimum 5 years’ working experience, preferably in property risk surveys, or other sections of the property insurance industry (claims, forensics, etc)
• Familiarity with international engineering standards such as NFPA, IEEE, FM Datasheets, and other industry standards related to loss prevention.
• Familiarity with AI tools like ChatGPT and Copilot is an added advantage
• Willingness to travel in region when required
• Good interpersonal and communications skills
• Good project management and time management capabilities
