Job summary

Links International seeks a Senior Marine Underwriter to lead the Marine section, ensuring smooth operations and profitable growth. You will set underwriting direction for marine cargo, hull, and related risks, and manage strategic partnerships to meet the company’s targets.

You will guide pricing, renewals, and treaty considerations while mentoring intermediaries and collaborating with senior management on ad-hoc projects.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in marine insurance or related lines.
• Strong underwriting and risk evaluation capabilities.
• Ability to translate business strategy into underwriting actions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Job description

• 1. Provide leadership and overall management of the Marine section to ensure smooth operation
• 2. Develop and implement sales and underwriting strategies for the section to achieve profitable growth
• 3. Achieve yearly sales and profitability budget
• 4. Underwrite and accept all marine cargo, cargo liabilities and marine hull business in accordance with the assigned underwriting authority limits and within the company’s underwriting guidelines and treaty terms. To seek treaty clearance when necessary
• 5. Responsible for the placement of facultative reinsurance in accordance with the company’s reinsurance security guidelines
• 6. Review renewal terms and follow up on policy renewal before expiry to achieve good retention of business
• 7. Arrange and/or conduct training for intermediaries and business partners
• 8. Participate in credit control and premium management
• 9. Participate in any ad-hoc projects assigned by Senior Management

Requirement:

• Related University or Professional Qualifications
• At least 10 years’ working experience in underwriting or related operation jobs in MNC or local entities
• Experience and knowledge in underwriting Marine Cargo/Hull business
• Business-Focused Analysis and ability to deliver business results
• Business Acumen and meticulous in risk assessment Good organization and planning skills
• Good leadership capability
• Resourceful, flexible and responsive in dealing with people
