Job description

Barnes Aerospace is an international group providing complex engineering solutions to some of the key names in the Aerospace and Defense market. Operating from sites close to our key customers in North America, Asia, and Europe, the Barnes Aerospace group provides advanced technological solutions to the Aerospace and Defense industry. We leverage in-depth knowledge of fabrication, machining, and the global supply chain to support complex aero-engine component manufacture and repair.

Barnes Aerospace is seeking an expert Director, ASIA Procurement, to join its team and be responsible for the procurement of raw materials, goods, and services for our manufactured goods and services. This includes the planning, scheduling, and monitoring of the movement of materials through the production cycle; utilizing production schedules to maintain inventory at planned levels; ensuring materials standards are met; and managing outside vendors through the processes of qualifying, obtaining quotes, examining bids, and making award decisions for the company. The Director, ASIA Procurement is the procurement and escalation focal point for raw materials, outside service processes, indirect and CAPEX purchasing, supplier selections, rating of supplier performance and maintaining supplier relationships.

Core Responsibilities:
  • P2R Governance – Design, document, and roll out standard work for requisition, PO placement, supplier acknowledgment, manage ASL (Approved Supplier List), goods/invoice receipt, and GR/IR resolution; align ERPs and related master-data rules including Coupa implementation transition.
  • Material Availability & Expediting – Lead daily shortage management and tiered escalation; resolve constraints rapidly while transitioning sites from reactive expediting to disciplined planning.
  • PO Execution Excellence – Drive 100 % PO accuracy, secure supplier confirmations within 48 hours, and achieve best-in-class on-time delivery through disciplined processes, supplier development, and inventory-buffer strategies (kanban, & VMI).
  • Performance Management & Analytics – Build real-time dashboards for OTD, inventory turns, PPV, GR/IR aging, and P2P cycle time; facilitate weekly site huddles and monthly executive reviews.
  • Continuous Improvement – Champion Lean/Six-Sigma kaizens to compress P2P cycle time and release working capital; cleanse MRP parameters (min/max, safety stock, MOQ) to align inventory with demand variability.
  • People & Change Leadership – Lead tactical buyers/expediters through regional managers; coach talent pipelines and cultivate a culture of data-driven decision-making and operational rigor.
  • Participate in supplier selections and onboarding of new sources for indirect commodity spend and supplier consolidation.
  • Maintain current knowledge of market conditions that affect overall cost, lead time, and availability of critical commodities.
  • Continuously improve supplier performance by understanding business requirements and aligning suppliers with business needs.
  • Participate in supplier quarterly reviews and communicate expectations.
  • Work closely with Procurement Managers and Commodity Managers to negotiate favorable contracts and long-term agreements.
  • Must meet or exceed Key Performance Indicators on cost, quality, delivery and cash flow.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years’ progressive procurement/materials leadership in aerospace or other complex, regulated manufacturing
  • Demonstrated success running multi-site P2P or tactical buying organizations (>$250 M annual spend)
  • Expert knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (Coupa, SAP, Oracle, Syteline, or equivalent) and advanced analytics tools (Power BI/Tableau; Excel)
  • Proven Lean/Six-Sigma practitioner with quantifiable cost, cycle-time, or inventory wins and supplier relationship management
  • Willing and able to travel up to 30 % globally
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as negotiation, analytical and project management skills
  • Strong collaboration and leader of teamwork orientation with ability to interact with all levels within the organization
  • Ability to drive global supply chain goals and performance metrics, reduce total landed costs and develop supplier partnerships
  • Experience in negotiating with raw material and outside service suppliers to secure favorable pricing and long-term contracts
  • Experience with advanced data analysis and visualization tools including creative thinking with problem-solving capabilities
  • Impeccable integrity, strong communication and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications (CPSM, CPIM, CSCP)
  • Experience harmonizing multiple ERPs during M&A or footprint consolidation
  • Bachelor’s degree required in business administration, supply chain, or related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred
