Job summary

JAC Recruitment in Singapore is seeking a Director to lead strategic R&D and innovation initiatives within the industrial biotechnology sector. You will shape priorities, oversee funding programmes, and drive collaboration across industry, academia and public sector while advancing commercialisation of research outcomes.

You will manage an R&D portfolio, build relationships with government agencies and partners, and provide scientific leadership to Principal Investigators, ensuring initiatives

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field; PhD preferred.
• Minimum 10-15 years of leadership experience in Industrial Biotechnology.
• Experience in R&D strategy, innovation management, or technology commercialisation at regional/global level.
• Strong track record of stakeholder engagement across research, industry and public sector.
• Experience managing large-scale research grants or complex R&D portfolios.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

The Director role offers the opportunity to lead strategic research and innovation initiatives within the industrial biotechnology sector. This position plays a key part in shaping R&D priorities, overseeing funding programmes, and fostering collaboration across industry, academia, and public sector stakeholders while driving the commercialisation of research outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the R&D roadmap in alignment with long-term strategic and economic objectives
• Oversee fund administration activities, including the development of selection criteria, evaluation of scientific proposals, and monitoring of funded projects
• Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, industry partners, and the research community to support collaborative innovation initiatives
• Drive the commercialisation of research outputs through technology transfer, licensing activities, and the development of spin-off opportunities
• Provide scientific and technical leadership when engaging with Principal Investigators, researchers, and industry stakeholders
• Support the management of complex research and innovation portfolios to maximise impact and value creation

Requirements

• Advanced degree in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field; PhD preferred
