Job summary

JAC Recruitment in Singapore is seeking a Director to lead strategic R&D and innovation initiatives within the industrial biotechnology sector. You will shape priorities, oversee funding programmes, and drive collaboration across industry, academia and public sector while advancing commercialisation of research outcomes.

You will manage an R&D portfolio, build relationships with government agencies and partners, and provide scientific leadership to Principal Investigators, ensuring initiatives

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field; PhD preferred.
• Minimum 10-15 years of leadership experience in Industrial Biotechnology.
• Experience in R&D strategy, innovation management, or technology commercialisation at regional/global level.
• Strong track record of stakeholder engagement across research, industry and public sector.
• Experience managing large-scale research grants or complex R&D portfolios.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the R&D roadmap aligned with strategic objectives.
• Oversee fund administration, criteria development, evaluation of proposals, and monitoring of projects.
• Build strong collaborations with government, industry, and academia.
• Drive commercialisation through technology transfer, licensing, and spin-offs.
• Provide scientific leadership when engaging with Principal Investigators and researchers.
• Manage complex research portfolios to maximise impact and value.
