Job summary

Gunvor Singapore Pte Ltd seeks a Desk Developer to operate and optimize our cloud and data infrastructure, focusing on Azure-based workloads for trading activities.

You will build data pipelines, implement CI/CD with containerization, and collaborate with traders to back-test models and improve P&L reporting. You will document workflows and contribute to automating risk-reducing processes in a fast-paced trading environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in data engineering, trading systems, or financial technology.
• Experience designing or implementing trading execution algorithms, preferably in crypto or other electronic markets.
• Solid understanding of order book dynamics, liquidity, and market microstructure.

Responsibilities

• Operate and optimize cloud infrastructure (primarily Microsoft Azure).
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and automated deployment strategies.
• Build and maintain data pipelines for market, weather, and operational datasets.
• Integrate external data sources into internal trading systems and databases.
• Assist in developing, back-testing, and deploying machine learning and quantitative models.
• Provide real-time technical support to traders and originators.
• Develop tools for trade capture, position management, and P&L reporting.
• Automate workflows to reduce operational risk.
• Document systems, processes, and model assumptions
• Perform other ad-hoc duties assigned by manager

Profile

The individual should have the following experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years’ of relevant experience in data engineering, trading systems, or financial technology.
• Proven experience designing or implementing trading execution algorithms, preferably in crypto or other electronic markets.
• Solid understanding of order book dynamics, liquidity, and market microstructure.

Skills

• Strong programming skills in Python, C#, or Java.
• Experience with Azure, Databricks, Spark, SQL, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, ELK, React, .NET 8 and containerization.
• Familiarity with ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
• Knowledge of commodities markets and trading workflows.
• Understanding of PPAs, hedges, structured deals, and risk metrics.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to work under time-sensitive conditions.

Additional Skills

• Prior trading desk or energy/commodities experience.
• Exposure to OIS discounting, structured deal valuation, and risk reserves.
• Strong grasp of numerical methods, statistics, and optimization techniques.
• Ability to bridge quantitative research and production systems.
