Job summary

National University of Singapore in Kent Ridge Campus seeks a capable engineering assistant to support the Design Lab. You will help set up and calibrate robotic systems, assist academic staff, and ensure equipment is ready for sessions.

Responsibilities include procurement coordination, safety compliance, testing new gear, and maintaining lab inventory. A strong foundation in robotics and hands-on project experience are valued, along with teamwork and clear communication.

Qualifications

• A BEng degree in robotics, systems control, mechatronics, automation, or equivalent.
• Knowledge and skills in ROS, Python, Linux, electrical and electronic circuits and motion control boards, sensor and actuators, computer networking.
• At least 1 year on-the-job or hands-on project experience involving a large subset of skills stated above.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Team player and able to work independently.
• Desire to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety management will be an advantage.
• 3D printing knowledge will be an advantage.
• Background knowledge in machining and computers/workstations is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Set up equipment retrieved from storage, position on benches, cabling and power setup.
• Verify proper operation of hardware and software.
• Make adjustments or calibrations prior to sessions.
• Conduct trial runs for new procedures and refine setups.
• Troubleshoot faulty equipment and arrange repair or replacement.
• Clean, dismantle, and store equipment after sessions.
• Assist staff in designing and implementing experiments, sourcing and testing new equipment.
