Dyson GmbH is seeking a Senior Design Engineer for its Singapore Design Engineering Team. You will contribute to new product category development from concept through production, applying practical design skills and methodical problem-solving to create robust, scalable solutions.
You will work with senior engineers and cross-functional partners to translate requirements into practical CAD models, drawings and test plans, delivering quality designs that meet cost, reliability and safety targets.
Dyson is a global technology company that sets out to solve the problems others ignore. We create machines that are different, better and more useful through inventive engineering, rigorous testing and a commitment to exploring new possibilities.
We are developing confidential new product categories and are looking for a Senior Design Engineer to help shape what comes next. This is an opportunity to work on exciting technical challenges, contribute fresh perspectives, and turn innovative ideas into products that can be developed, tested and trusted.
At Dyson, we believe that diverse experiences, perspectives and ways of thinking help us create better products for our users. We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds and are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive and contribute.
As a Design Engineer in the Singapore Design Engineering Team, supporting New Product Category development at the Singapore Technology Centre, you will contribute to the development of new and innovative products from early concept through to production.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, applying practical design skills, structured problem solving and hands-on engineering judgement to develop parts, assemblies and product systems that meet Dyson's standards for performance, reliability, safety, quality, cost and user experience.
You will help translate technical problems into clear design requirements, create and evaluate design concepts, build and learn from prototypes, and use test results and data to improve product robustness. The role calls for a practical, curious and methodical approach to design, with opportunities to work independently on defined tasks while collaborating closely with senior engineers, technical leads, external development partners, manufacturing, quality, operations, procurement, test and global engineering teams.
This role is suited to an engineer who is continuing to develop their product development expertise and is ready to lead defined parts, assemblies and design activities, contribute evidence-based recommendations, and work with others to deliver robust design solutions for a new Dyson category.
We recognise that candidates may not meet every requirement listed below. If you are excited about the opportunity and believe your experience could add value, we encourage you to apply.
A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Product Development, Mechatronics, Science or an equivalent technical discipline.
2+ years of experience in mechanical design, product development or a related engineering role.
Experience designing plastic, rubber, metal or mechanical assembly components, with a good understanding of DFM and DFA principles.
Practical knowledge of 3D CAD, 2D engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerance stack-up and design documentation, with the ability to review and guide CAD and drawing outputs.
Ability to apply established design processes and engineering best practice to deliver robust design solutions, with guidance where needed.
Ability to understand technical requirements, identify constraints and translate them into practical design work.
A methodical approach to problem solving, using prototypes, tests, data and analysis to make evidence-based design decisions.
Comfort working in a dynamic product development environment where requirements may evolve, with the ability to plan, prioritise and adapt effectively.
Ability to contribute effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain technical ideas, design rationale, risks and recommendations to colleagues and stakeholders.
Curiosity, creativity and a growth mindset, with enthusiasm for learning, improving and solving engineering problems.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, supplier development, industrial measurement methods, product testing, or technical disciplines such as thermals, acoustics, fluid flow, electronics, mechanisms or human factors would be beneficial.
A genuine interest in engineering, a willingness to learn and enthusiasm for helping develop products that are meaningfully better.
