Responsibilities

• To participate and review in data center site selection and contractual evaluations and executions.
• To participate and Review Data Center MEP Design and other necessary disciplines for new data center builds and data hall fit outs.
• Review data hall layout plans and perform test fits to validate server capacity plans and failover calculations.
• Scope out commissioning requirement and responsibility matrix exhibit in a contract with data center providers or developers during site selection and contracting stage.
• Participate in construction QA/QC through the construction period of the project.
• Participate in Testing and Commissioning reviews and discussions to determine required tests to verify design elements.
• Collaborate with the FM team DC Engineering Operations to validate commissioning results, and prepare systems hand off to the FM DCEO team.
• Support the DC Engineering FM team to become a Subject Matter Expert and understand how to overcome design limitations and risks.
• Conduct a periodic Audit or Assessment to access the effectiveness and practicality of the design in-use on our data centers.
• Be our ambassador to explain data center infrastructure design to visitors.
• Based on CX lessons learned, to continually find ways to collaborate and break new ground to enhance MEP design to meet future needs.
• Continually maintain positive and collaborative working relations with partner teams, vendors, teammates, and internal customers.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or relevant disciplines, and have at least 2 years of commissioning experience.
• Knowledge of standard power and cooling calculations necessary to determine capacity requirements (i.e., UTI, TIA-942, ASHRAE).
• Understand Power Redundancy and how it is implemented in design (i.e., 2N or N+1 Distributed Redundant).
• Experience with Cooling Redundancy and how Concurrent Maintainability is implemented in design (i.e, N+1 or N+2).
• Experience in the following areas: Lead or influence a Design and Architect team to complete Data Center Conceptual>30%>60%>90% Detailed Design Process.
• Practice Data Center Tiering Standards (i.e., TIA-942 Rated 3, or Uptime Tier 3) in a detailed design process.
• Lead or influence a construction team to complete Data Hall fit-out experience, including IT services Coordination, Power and Cooling Planning.
• Lead or influence a testing and commissioning team to perform L1 to L5 commissioning tests to validate the system design intent and resolve technical problems along the way.
• Mechanical and/or electrical engineering experience such as generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, UPS, electrical sub-distribution systems, etc.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to clarity and detail.
