Job summary

sggovterp is seeking a Data Engineer to design and maintain data platforms and pipelines for reporting, analytics, and daily operations within the government ICT context.

Ideal candidates will have a solid grounding in SQL and data modelling, plus hands-on experience with ETL/ELT concepts and scripting languages like Python or PySpark. Familiarity with Azure data services and governance requirements is a plus.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Data Analytics or related discipline.
• Understanding of ETL or ELT concepts, data pipelines, data warehousing, lakehouse architecture or analytics platform support.
• Good foundation in SQL and data modelling concepts.
• Working knowledge of at least one scripting or data processing language such as Python, PySpark or similar.
• Ability to work with structured and semi-structured data from multiple source systems.
• Good analytical, troubleshooting, documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work with stakeholders to clarify requirements and translate data needs into technical implementation tasks.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and datasets to support reporting and analytics.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to capture requirements and translate them into technical tasks.
• Organise data across layers from raw data to cleansed, business-ready datasets.
• Ensure data quality with validation, lineage tracking, and monitoring.
• Monitor pipeline performance and troubleshoot failures or anomalies.
• Support cloud-based data solutions while complying with governance and security rules.
