Job summary

The Singapore Cheshire Home is seeking a DAC Centre Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Multiple Disability Day Activity Centre. You will ensure safe, person-centred and meaningful care and activity support, integrating Occupational Therapy principles to promote clients’ independence and participation.

Lead a multidisciplinary team, supervise care staff, maintain records, and drive program development and quality improvement to meet individual goals and safeguard wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy with AHPC Full registration.
• 3–5 years and above of relevant experience in disability services, rehabilitation, community care, or healthcare.
• Experience in supervisory or service coordination roles is preferred.
• Strong understanding of person-centred care, safeguarding and risk management.
• Excellent communication, budgeting, documentation and programme-planning skills.
• Ability to coach and develop care staff across disciplines.
• Commitment to promoting client dignity, independence, inclusion and quality of life.

Responsibilities

Job description

The DAC Centre Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and service delivery of the Multiple Disability Day Activity Centre (DAC), ensuring clients receive safe, person-centred and meaningful care and activity support. The role combines operational leadership with Occupational Therapy principles to promote clients’ functional abilities, independence, participation and quality of life. The Supervisor works closely with care staff, caregivers, Allied Health Professionals and other stakeholders to develop and implement programmes that meet individual needs and goals and reports monthly to the Head of Therapy on operational and programme matters.

• Supervise daily DAC operations and services ensuring safe, effective and efficient service delivery and appropriate care for clients with multiple and complex disabilities.
• Apply Occupational Therapy principles to develop and create programs and activities to support functional abilities, activities of daily living, independence, sensory needs, mobility, positioning, adaptive equipment and community participation.
• Perform & complete all relevant documentation of annual functional assessments and contribute to engage all clients in their daily individualised activity, sensory, functional, social and community participation programmes.
• Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, training officers and other professionals to provide holistic, person-centred support, care and services.
• Supervise, coach and guide care staff (care-coordinator, care associate and therapy aides) in safe transfers, positioning, mobility, daily activities, sensory and behavioural support, and appropriate use of adaptive equipment.
• Monitor client participation, progress and responses; ensure appropriate documentation, follow-up and communication with clients, caregivers and families by working collaboratively with social workers.
• Promote positive behavioural support and ensure safeguarding, risk management and incident-reporting requirements are followed.
• Participate and provide inputs for monthly MDT meetings.
• Maintain accurate client records, attendance, care plans, assessments, programme documentation and administrative records.
• Ensure SOPs and workflows are reviewed and updated, with approval from the Head of Therapy/CEO where required.
• Oversee operational resources, budget, inventory, procurement, equipment maintenance and asset management with approval from the Head of Therapy/CEO.
• Coordinate safe and appropriate transport arrangements for clients and monitor the suitability of therapy, mobility, sensory and activity equipment.
• Support staff orientation, training, competency development and performance supervision.
• Assist with audits, regulatory requirements, quality improvement and service development initiatives.
• Promote a culture of dignity, inclusion, respect, empowerment and meaningful participation.
• Passionate to adopt and apply holistic care philosophy and person centric practice at work for DAC residents, with alignment of service needs at organisational level.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy with AHPC Full registration.
• 3–5 years and above of relevant experience in disability services, rehabilitation, community care, special needs or healthcare, preferably with supervisory or service coordination experience.
• Experience supporting individuals with intellectual, physical, multiple or complex disabilities in Day Activity Centre, Adult Disability Home, Nursing Home and Residential Home will be an additional advantage.
• Strong understanding of person-centred care, safeguarding, risk management, positive behavioural support and multidisciplinary practice.
• Strong communication, leadership, organisational, problem-solving, documentation, budgeting and programme-planning skills.
• Ability to coach and develop care staff and coordinate effectively across professional disciplines.
• Commitment to promoting client dignity, independence, inclusion, participation and quality of life.
