Job summary

MSIG Singapore seeks a seasoned Credit and Political Risks underwriter to lead strategy and profitability for the segment. You will shape product development, review policy wordings, and oversee underwriting guidelines across distribution channels.

You will underwrite referrals to executives, ensure timely responses, collaborate with governance, actuarial and claims teams to manage loss ratios, and ensure compliance with laws and group policies. On-site role in Singapore.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification and professional insurance qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Credit and Political Risks insurance strategy and plans; responsible for Topline and Bottomline of the segment, including product development, policy wording reviews and underwriting/treaty guidelines, and distribution platform management.
  • Underwrite and prepare referrals to CEO / MSIG Asia / MSIG USA for approvals, when necessary.
  • Ensure that reasonable TAT is achieved for responses to market and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure prudent underwriting while balancing business needs and account security.
  • Collaborate with Governance, Reinsurance, Actuarial and Claims to manage loss ratios.
  • Negotiate, underwrite, and accept all accounts within Risk Acceptance Authority/Guide.
  • Develop understanding and appreciation of Credit and Political Risks across the company.
  • Engage with the market and industry for business development.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulatory provisions and Group policies relevant to the role.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement Credit and Political Risks insurance business strategy, initiatives and plans; responsible for both the Topline and Bottomline of the segment. This also includes product development, review of policy wordings and underwriting/Treaty guidelines, platform development (if any) and management of distribution of Credit and Political Risks products and services across all distribution channels
  • Underwrite and prepare referrals to CEO / MSIG Asia / MSIG USA for approvals, whenever necessary.
  • Ensure that reasonable TAT is achieved for response to market / internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure that prudent technical underwriting is conducted as well as balancing the business aspects of securing the accounts.
  • Collaborate with Governance, Reinsurance, Actuarial and Claims teams to manage loss ratios
  • Negotiate, underwrite, accept all accounts within Risk Acceptance Authority/Risk Acceptance Guide
  • Develop understanding and appreciation of Credit and Political Risks insurance across the company
  • Market engagements with the industry
  • Ensure compliance with all laws, regulatory provisions and Group policies as are relevant to the role
  • Undertake any other duties as may be assigned
Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification and professional insurance qualifications
Other Information
  • At least 2 years of experience in developing and underwriting Credit and Political Risks insurance business and products or credit analysis, banking, finance, or related fields
  • Credit and Political Risks Insurance business and underwriting, pricing, referrals, review of policy wordings and product enhancements
  • Digitalisation savviness
  • Portfolio Management
  • Knowledge of distribution channels structure and good interpersonal liaison with them
