Job summary

Gunvor Group in Singapore seeks a Credit Analyst to join the regional credit team. You will analyse external and internal credit data, provide assessments, and advise on risk and credit limits for counterparties across Asia.

The role collaborates with legal, compliance, middle office, and front office, supporting negotiations and documentation with counterparties, and requires strong Excel and English communication.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years as a Credit Analyst in energy/commodities.
  • Experience with credit risk, counterparty analysis and reporting.
  • Familiarity with ISDA, CSA or MSPA master agreements.
  • Advanced Excel and database skills (Access).
  • Fluent English; Mandarin would help.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor a portfolio of Asian counterparties and assess credit quality.
  • Approve trades within delegated authority and existing limits.
  • Ensure adherence to Gunvor Credit Policies and Procedures.
  • Prepare credit reviews for Credit Committee; analyze financials.
  • Support negotiations and administration of credit agreements.
  • Maintain relationships with clients, counterparties and banks.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks as required.

Job description

Job Title: Credit Analyst

Contract Type: Permanent

Time Type: Full time

The Credit Analyst, based in Singapore, serves as the local representative of the Credit team and reports to the Regional Head of Credit APAC. Working closely with the legal, compliance, middle office, and front office teams across Singapore and Gunvor's global offices, the role is responsible for analysing and reporting both external and internal credit information. Through qualitative and quantitative analysis, the Credit Analyst provides credit assessments, advice, and recommendations to support business decision-making. The role also supports the negotiation of credit-related matters and legal documentation with external counterparties.

Main Responsibilities
  • Proactively monitor and manage a portfolio of mainly Asian counterparties with regards to credit exposures, potential future exposures and changes in credit quality.
  • Day-to-day trade approvals under existing limits and a local delegated authority.
  • Ensure compliance with Gunvor Credit Policies and Procedures.
  • Financial analysis of counterparties and preparation of credit reviews for Credit Committee Evaluate and help structuring complex multi-commodity and/ or long-term transactions.
  • Support negotiations and administration of credit agreements and other master trading agreements.
  • Maintain relationships with Clients, Counterparts, Financial Institutions and other stakeholders.
  • Ad hoc duties as assigned by the manager.
Education
  • Ideally, Bachelor’s degree with a major in Finance, Economics or Business Administration
Experience
  • A total of 5+ years relevant experience as Credit Analyst
  • Previous experience in the Energy Commodities Trading market, particularly power and gas
  • Experience with Master Agreements such as ISDA, CSA or MSPA that are used in the Commodities Trading market.
  • Strong Excel, Access and database skills.
  • Ideally Corporate Banking credit experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin would be beneficial to support business communications with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders.
  • Other language skills are an asset.
