Job summary

Our client is an Singapore company in the Construction industry seeking a Head of Legal to lead the Legal/Contract team. The role focuses on contract management, advisory work, and strategic risk control to drive project success.

Responsibilities include drafting, negotiating, and administering contracts; advising on EOT, variations, and claims; and providing commercial guidance to Finance and Project teams to minimize delays and exposure. Location is Town, Singapore.

Qualifications

Qualified lawyer called to the Bar in Singapore or common law jurisdiction.
LL.B. or equivalent legal qualification.
5–8 years PQE in law firm or in-house legal environment.
Strong contract, commercial and trade-related experience.
Experience in construction, engineering, infrastructure or related industries.
Knowledge of construction contracts, subcontracting, procurement and commercial claims.
Experience handling EOT, variation, progress and Loss & Expense claims.

Responsibilities

Manage full lifecycle of contracts from drafting to completion.
Review, negotiate and finalize main contracts, subcontract and supplier agreements.
Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Procurement and Project teams on compliance.
Identify and mitigate legal, contractual and commercial risks.
Monitor contractual obligations, milestones, deliverables and deadlines.
Advise on deviations, claims, variations and disputes for the company.
Provide legal and commercial advice on terms, pricing, risk and negotiations.
Support tender/bid reviews and preparation of Extension of Time and Variation Claims.
Assist in negotiating with clients, subcontractors and suppliers to reach favorable outcomes.
Guide project recovery plans and minimize delays and exposure.
