Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections of waste facilities to ensure NEA compliance.
• Develop and maintain waste management plans and procedures to minimise waste and promote recycling.
• Review data to identify opportunities for waste reduction and cost savings.
• Coordinate with Sales, Operations, and Laboratory teams to ensure compliant waste handling.
• Provide training on waste handling, storage, segregation, and disposal procedures.
• Maintain records of permits, inspections, waste tracking, and regulatory reports.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities and respond to inquiries about waste management and compliance.
• Participate in environmental audits and implement corrective action plans.
• Monitor regulatory changes and recommend improvements to maintain compliance.
• Ensure Safety and Environmental training is completed and up to date.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections of waste management facilities, equipment, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations and NEA requirements.
• Develop, implement, and maintain waste management plans, policies, and procedures to minimise waste generation and promote recycling and reuse.
• Review and analyse waste management data to identify opportunities for operational improvements, waste reduction, and cost savings.
• Coordinate with internal departments, including Sales, Operations, and Laboratory teams, to ensure daily waste handling and disposal activities comply with NEA requirements.
• Provide training and guidance to employees on proper waste handling, storage, segregation, and disposal procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of waste management activities, including permits, inspection records, waste tracking documentation, and regulatory reports.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities and relevant agencies, and respond to enquiries relating to waste management and environmental compliance.
• Participate in environmental audits and inspections, identify areas of non-compliance, and develop and implement corrective action plans.
• Monitor changes in environmental and waste management regulations and industry best practices, and recommend improvements to ensure continued compliance.
• Ensure all required Safety and Environmental training and courses are completed and kept up to date.

Requirements

• Candidates typically need a Diploma certificate in environmental science, engineering, or a related field, as well as several years of experience in waste management and regulatory compliance.
• Attend all updated Safety & environment courses
• Proven experience as a Compliance Officer or Compliance Manager
• Experience in risk management and have knowledge of legal requirements and controls
• Familiarity with industry practices and professional standards
