Job summary

UWCSEA Dover is seeking a Teacher of Middle School Science for a 1-Year Local Contract starting August 2027. The role emphasizes concept-based learning, collaborative department culture, and ongoing professional growth.

Candidates must hold an internationally recognised teaching qualification and reside in Singapore by August 2027, with prior experience teaching science to 11–14 year olds in a well‑resourced setting.

Qualifications

• A good degree in Science or a closely related discipline and a recognized teaching qualification or certification are expected.
• Applicants should have a passion for working with young adolescents and understand the developmental needs of 11–14 year olds.
• Previous experience of teaching Science in the 11-14 age range is required.

Responsibilities

• Contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the Science department and the Middle School team.
• Construct learning experiences that challenge students and support diverse learners with concept-based teaching and learning.
• Demonstrate the UWCSEA Learning Principles and ensure assessments provide timely feedback on formative and summative assessments.
• Show effective classroom management that addresses academic, social, and emotional dimensions of learning.
• Keep parents informed about student progress and communicate proactively with parents.
• Participate in the five key elements of a UWCSEA education: Academics, Activities, Outdoor Education, Personal and Social Education, and Service.
• Expect to contribute to Activities/Service sessions (approx. two per week per season) or equivalent for part-time roles.
• Engage in curricular Outdoor Education experiences and occasional holiday Outdoor Education trips.
• Commit to diversity, equity, inclusion and justice and adapt pedagogy to meet learners' needs.
