Job summary

KACIFIC BROADBAND SATELLITES LTD. is seeking an entry to mid-level workshop assistant to support CNC machinists in setup, tooling, and production tasks. The role involves material handling, measuring parts, and maintaining a clean work area, with emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Candidate should have basic CNC awareness, the ability to read simple drawings, and a willingness to learn more about machining processes, inspection, and tool changes. On-site work with PPE required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Basic understanding of CNC machining and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and understand basic engineering drawings is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of measuring instruments such as vernier calipers and micrometers.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn CNC machining, machine setup, tooling, and inspection processes.

Responsibilities

• Assist CNC machinists with machine setup, tooling, and production activities.
• Load and unload raw materials and finished components from CNC machines.
• Prepare materials, tools, fixtures, and measuring equipment required for production.
• Assist with CNC machine operation under the direction of a qualified machinist.
• Perform basic deburring, cleaning, and finishing of machined components.
• Check dimensions of components using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Follow engineering drawings, work instructions, and production requirements.
• Identify and report damaged tools, machine issues, or quality problems to the CNC machinist or supervisor.
• Maintain machines, tools, and the work area in a clean and organised condition.
• Assist with tool changes, coolant checks, and routine machine maintenance.
• Record production quantities, inspection results, and other required information.
• Follow company procedures, quality requirements, and safety regulations.
• Wear appropriate PPE and maintain safe working practices at all times.
• Assist with other workshop and production duties as required.
