Job summary

ScienTec Consulting Pte. Ltd. seeks a hands-on SQL Server DBA to manage Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure VMs. You will tune performance, troubleshoot incidents, and implement high availability and DR using Always On.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of SQL Server DBA experience, strong T-SQL skills, and familiarity with Azure Monitor, Defender for SQL, and Key Vault. Singapore-based, on-site role with renewable contract terms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of SQL Server DBA experience.
• Hands-on with SQL Server 2016 or later.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support Microsoft SQL Server environments across Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server hosted on Azure VMs.
• Perform database installation, configuration, provisioning, patching, upgrades, backup, restoration, and recovery activities.
• Monitor database health, performance, capacity, and availability across production and non-production environments.
• Troubleshoot database-related incidents and perform root cause analysis to minimise service disruption.
• Optimise database performance through query tuning, indexing, statistics management, Query Store analysis, and database maintenance.
• Implement and support high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including Always On Availability Groups, failover mechanisms, and recovery procedures.
• Execute T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, scheduled jobs, and database deployment activities.
• Configure monitoring, logging, and alerts using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Microsoft Defender for SQL.
• Manage database access, RBAC, encryption, auditing, security hardening, and privileged access controls.
• Work with Azure services such as Microsoft Entra ID and Azure Key Vault to support secure database operations.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, runbooks, change records, and disaster recovery documentation.
• Ensure database platforms comply with organisational security policies, GCC Azure requirements, IM8, and relevant governance standards.

Looking to take your SQL expertise into a large-scale Azure environment? This is a great opportunity for a hands-on DBA who enjoys performance tuning, troubleshooting and building reliable database environments. Location: Outram Park. Job Type: Full-Time Contract (Renewable basis).

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in SQL Server database administration or database operations.
• Strong hands‑on experience with SQL Server 2016 or later.
• Experience supporting Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and/or SQL Server on Azure VMs.
• Strong proficiency in T‑SQL, stored procedures, Dynamic Management Views (DMVs), Query Store, and SQL performance tuning.
• Practical experience in database backup, recovery, high availability, failover, and disaster recovery.
• Good understanding of SQL Server security, RBAC, encryption, auditing, and database hardening.
• Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Microsoft Defender for SQL, Microsoft Entra ID, and Azure Key Vault would be advantageous.
• Experience supporting government, GCC Azure, or other regulated environments would be highly advantageous.
• Relevant Microsoft Azure or database certifications, such as AZ‑104, DP‑300, or equivalent, would be advantageous.
