Job summary

Recruit Express Pte Ltd is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist to support accurate diagnostic services across Singapore’s western region. You will assist daily lab operations, perform routine and specialised tests in haematology, biochemistry, urinalysis and microscopy, and carry out phlebotomy and related procedures in line with SOPs.

You will also operate laboratory analysers, perform QC and maintenance, review results for accuracy, and ensure proper LIS documentation.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Biomedical Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science or related field.
• Experience in clinical/diagnostic healthcare lab is advantageous.
• Practical experience in phlebotomy or specimen collection is a plus.
• Familiarity with laboratory testing procedures, QA practices and diagnostic equipment is preferred.
• Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist daily laboratory operations including patient registration, specimen receipt, preparation and processing.
• Carry out routine and specialised investigations across haematology, biochemistry, urinalysis and microscopy.
• Perform phlebotomy and POCT, ECG and spirometry per SOPs.
• Operate analysers safely, follow SOPs and maintain equipment.
• Conduct quality control, calibration and preventive maintenance; troubleshoot issues.
• Review and validate results, escalate critical findings promptly.
• Record results and monitor LIS workflows for traceability and audit trails.
• Ensure documentation and reports are accurate for regulatory compliance.
• Monitor reagents and supplies, and communicate replenishment needs.
• Adhere to infection control, safety and confidentiality requirements.

Job description

Be part of a professional healthcare laboratory team supporting accurate diagnostic services and quality patient care across Singapore’s western region.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the daily operations of the laboratory, covering patient registration, specimen receipt, preparation, processing, storage and related administrative activities.
• Carry out routine and specialised laboratory investigations across areas including haematology, clinical biochemistry, urinalysis and microscopy.
• Perform phlebotomy and other clinical procedures such as Point-of-Care Testing (POCT), ECG and spirometry in accordance with established protocols.
• Operate laboratory analysers and equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring procedures are performed according to SOPs and departmental guidelines.
• Complete routine quality control, equipment calibration and preventive maintenance activities, and assist with troubleshooting when abnormal results or equipment issues arise.
• Review and validate laboratory findings before releasing results, ensuring critical results and operational concerns are escalated promptly to the appropriate personnel.
• Maintain accurate test information and workflow records through the Laboratory Information System (LIS), including result entry, verification and monitoring of pending investigations.
• Ensure laboratory records, documentation and reports are maintained accurately to support traceability, audit requirements and regulatory compliance.
• Keep track of laboratory reagents, consumables and other supplies, and communicate replenishment requirements to the relevant team members.
• Adhere consistently to infection prevention measures, occupational safety practices, confidentiality requirements and laboratory quality standards.
• Deliver professional and courteous service when interacting with patients, doctors, colleagues and other healthcare stakeholders, referring complex matters to the appropriate personnel when required.
• Collaborate with laboratory colleagues to identify and resolve workflow or operational issues and contribute to an efficient day-to-day laboratory environment.
• Undertake additional laboratory-related responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor or laboratory management.

Requirements

For Clinical Laboratory Technologist positions:

• Diploma or Degree in Biomedical Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science or a related field.
• Prior experience working in a clinical, diagnostic or healthcare laboratory setting is advantageous.
• Practical experience in phlebotomy or specimen collection would be an added advantage.
• Basic knowledge of laboratory testing procedures, quality assurance practices and diagnostic equipment is preferred.
• Able to work efficiently in a busy healthcare environment while handling multiple tasks and competing priorities.
• Demonstrates strong attention to detail, with sound analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Comfortable providing professional assistance and interacting with patients and healthcare professionals.
• Proficient in basic computer applications; familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is advantageous.
• Relevant training and on-the-job guidance will be provided where required.
