Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, audit, governance, and compliance.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to understand the business drivers behind financial results.
  • Experience with ESG, internal controls, risk management, and corporate governance.
  • Exposure to listed companies, public-company governance, or sophisticated shareholders is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Malaysia regulatory matters, including LMW licensing, would be an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the company's financial management, governance, compliance, and strategic planning.
  • Work with the CEO and shareholders to provide financial insights and commercially sound recommendations.
  • Review financial data, budgets, forecasts, and management reports to identify trends, risks, and drivers.
  • Investigate financial discrepancies and resolve key financial issues.
  • Oversee cash flow, receivables, collections, and related areas.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance analysis.
  • Review major contracts and decisions from financial/commercial perspectives.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and support internal audit activities.
  • Ensure compliance with financial, regulatory, and governance requirements.
  • Oversee ESG reporting, risk management, internal controls, policies, and governance frameworks.
  • Identify control weaknesses and implement improvements as the business grows.
  • Support licensing, regulatory, and compliance matters, including Malaysia operations.
  • Coordinate finance, administration, HR, and cross-functional matters with financial oversight.
  • Oversee Singapore-Malaysia financial and operational matters, including Malaysia factory and LMW requirements.
  • Monitor business performance and drive corrective actions.
  • Translate shareholder requirements into practical, measurable actions.

Job description

Our listco client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee the company's financial management, governance, compliance, and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the company's overall financial management, governance, and financial strategy.
  • Work closely with the CEO and shareholders to provide financial insights and commercially sound recommendations.
  • Review financial data, budgets, forecasts, and management reports to identify trends, risks, and business drivers.
  • Investigate financial discrepancies and take ownership of key financial issues through to resolution.
  • Oversee cash flow, receivables, collections, and other areas requiring management intervention.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance analysis.
  • Review major contracts and business decisions from a financial and commercial perspective.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and support internal audit activities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements.
  • Oversee ESG reporting, risk management, internal controls, policies, and governance frameworks.
  • Identify control weaknesses and implement improvements as the business grows.

Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.

  • Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role, such as CFO, Finance Director, Financial Controller, or equivalent.
  • Strong hands-on experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, audit, governance, and compliance.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to understand the business drivers behind financial results.
  • Comfortable working independently and personally handling detailed financial matters when required.
  • Strong experience dealing with auditors, regulators, senior management, and shareholders.
  • Experience with ESG, internal controls, risk management, and corporate governance.
  • Exposure to listed companies, public-company governance, or sophisticated shareholders is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Malaysia regulatory matters, including LMW licensing, would be an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to challenge assumptions, identify issues, and drive corrective actions to completion.
  • Experience working in a lean or fast-growing organisation is highly preferred.
