Job summary

Asahi Kasei Plastics Singapore Pte Ltd is seeking a Senior Sustainability/Process Engineer to drive GHG reduction and energy efficiency across our plants. You will coordinate cross-border projects with engineers in Singapore and Japan and report major developments to the Japan Headquarter.

You will lead engineering modification initiatives, ensure plant safety, and collaborate with government bodies, NGOs, and contractors to secure resources and cost-effective improvements.

Qualifications

  • Experience in refinery/petrochemical industry
  • 5+ years managing GHG emissions in relevant industry
  • Ability to calculate GHG emissions using recognized methodologies
  • Strong leadership and engineering modification skills

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement plant modification projects (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumental incl. DCS, Civil) with relevant parties
  • Lead GHG emissions reduction and energy efficiency initiatives
  • Report to Japan Headquarter on sustainability and DX developments
  • Collaborate with Singapore and Japan engineers to deliver outcomes
  • Enhance plant safety and implement Safety Case practices
  • Maintain relationships with local governments, NGOs and contractors
  • Identify cost-cutting opportunities and improve product quality

Job description

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Reports to Deputy MD
  • To ensure there is an overall coordination of efforts to reduce GHG emissions in our entire plants. Lower GHG emission feedstock will enable better market access for our new Products
  • To integrate of new project to the stakeholders show clear GHG reduction in the final product.
  • Liaising closely and report to our Japan Headquarter on major developments in sustainability and DX marking. Stay strong connect with Engineers in Japan on the new outcome and new implementation between Japan and Singapore.
  • Has the ability to bridge the collaboration with both Singapore & Japan engineers into this new project, such as Energy efficiency improvement, DX improvement, and new plant construction.
  • Bring in the new ideas and practises from Japan to Singapore, such as sustainability and DX.
  • Identifying the right methodology of which GHG emission reduction are targeted and collaborate with Engineers in Japan and Singapore to deliver outcomes.
  • To enhance plant process safety by Engineering knowledge and experiences and proceed Safety Case practice.
  • Maintaining strong connections local governments, NGOs and contractors to ensure the project is well resourced.
  • Responsible for process optimization, stabilization and improvement in the plant by engineering
  • Provides engineering support to achieve safety and stable working of plant and quality products
  • Coordinate and implement for plant modification job (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumental(including DCS), Civil work) with relevant parties, for process stabilization and improvement
  • Manage, plan and evaluate for the plant trail test and compiling the results
  • Prepare change of control documents and process performance reports, evaluates technical proposals
  • Implement cost cutting measures or projects to reduce the cost of production, and improvement of products quality
  • Lead technical requirement from Singapore Government (MHD-MHI Safety Case Regime/Functional Safety, GHG emission report & Energy report & Water efficiency report etc)
  • Implement the requirement from Energy Conservation Act including EnMS including ICCs.
Requirements
  • Good leadership and high knowledge for Engineering modification job and engineering study
  • Consider and study items by yourself and report it to superior.
  • Degree/Master in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science / Bio- Chemistry and preferably from local university
  • 5 years’ experience from refinery/petrochemical industry
  • At least 5 years’ experience managing GHG emissions in the relevant industry
  • SCEM certification (preferable).
  • Able to demonstrate working ability to calculate GHG emissions based on international recognized methodologies
  • Good communication with all level and function within the organization.
  • Willing to travel frequently
  • Proficient is Japanese will be an advantage. At least JLPT 3 to 2.
