Job summary

United Overseas Bank Ltd seeks a VP of AI & Data Assurance to establish and oversee a robust assurance framework for AI and data initiatives across the bank. Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Risk Management or related quantitative field (PhD a plus).
• Minimum 10 years in risk management/audit/compliance/assurance in financial services, with at least 5 years on AI/ML/data governance.
• Deep understanding of AI/ML concepts, algorithms and lifecycle risks like bias and explainability.
• Strong knowledge of data governance, data quality and privacy regulations (GDPR, PDPA).
• Experience in developing assurance frameworks, control testing and risk assessment for complex tech systems.
• Familiarity with regulatory expectations for AI/data in financial services (MAS TRM, BCBS 239, ethical AI).
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder influence skills.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams; certifications in CISM/CISA/CRISC or AI ethics desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine a comprehensive AI and Data Assurance strategy aligned with industry‑standard practices and regulatory requirements.
• Lead risk identification, assessment and mitigation for AI model development, deployment and operation.
• Establish and manage robust model validation and review processes for AI/ML models.
• Oversee data quality assurance for data used in AI models and analytics.
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers, data scientists, legal, compliance, risk and business units to embed assurance.
• Develop training on AI ethics, data governance and assurance best practices.
• Formulate control frameworks and monitoring for AI systems post‑deployment.
• Prepare and present status reports on AI and Data Assurance to senior management and regulators.
• Stay updated on emerging AI tech and regulatory landscapes to adapt the framework.
• Lead and mentor AI/data assurance professionals and foster continuous improvement.
