Job summary

Standard Chartered Singapore is seeking an experienced CDD professional to support a critical workstream within the Client Due Diligence team. You will execute initiatives to ensure compliance with AML, FATCA/CRS, and Group policies, delivering timely outputs to senior stakeholders.

The role requires strong communication, risk-based decision making, and collaboration with Compliance, Tax Operations, and relationship managers across markets.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in CDD reviews and/or AML advisory.
  • Familiar with MAS regulations and AML standards for banks in Singapore.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or business management.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of the vision, strategy, direction and leadership for the WRB CDD team, consistent with the vision and strategy for WRB COO.
  • Partner with Relationship Managers, Frontline teams, Compliance, FCC, Tax Operations, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and effective execution of CDD, FATCA and CRS requirements.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on complex onboarding, trigger review, periodic review, and remediation cases.
  • Review and challenge customer profiles, ownership structures, SOW/SOF information, and supporting documentation to ensure risk-based decision making.
  • Escalate higher-risk or exceptional cases to relevant advisory, compliance, tax, or senior approval authorities.

Key Responsibilities


  • Support the implementation of the vision, strategy, direction and leadership for the WRB CDD team, consistent with the vision and strategy for WRB COO and in support of the Group’s strategic direction and growth aspirations.

  • Partner with Relationship Managers, Frontline teams, Compliance, FCC, Tax Operations, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and effective execution of CDD, FATCA and CRS requirements.

  • Act as a trusted advisor on complex onboarding, trigger review, periodic review, and remediation cases.

  • Review and challenge customer profiles, ownership structures, SOW/SOF information, and supporting documentation to ensure risk-based decision making.

  • Serve as an escalation point for complex CDD, sanctions, adverse media, and risk assessment matters

  • Perform end-to-end CDD reviews covering onboarding, periodic reviews, trigger reviews, client remediation, and lifecycle management activities.

  • Assess the adequacy and plausibility of SOW/SOF information and ensure appropriate corroboration is obtained in accordance with policy requirements.

  • Identify and escalate potential FATCA/CRS indicia discrepancies, undocumented accounts, changes in circumstances, and incomplete tax documentation for remediation.

  • Escalate higher-risk or exceptional cases to relevant advisory, compliance, tax, or senior approval authorities in accordance with governance requirements.

  • Maintain audit-ready records, clear risk rationale, and robust documentation supporting customer due diligence decisions.

  • Monitor case quality, turnaround times, regulatory breaches, and control effectiveness, and support quality assurance reviews.

  • Participate in regulatory change initiatives, system enhancements, UAT, workflow optimization, and automation initiatives across CDD, FATCA, and CRS processes.

  • To work as a team member who can gel and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.

  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values.

  • Apply Group and Country CDD policies and processes (AML surveillance, client screening, risk assessment) to manage risks.

  • Timely escalation of issues and ensure that necessary actions are taken quickly to remediate and/or activities are ceased.

  • Timely review of customer’s profile and related risk and undertake enhanced due diligence on new and existing client

  • Review and/ or escape new or emerging areas of risks of clients subject to review

  • Make recommendations to relevant stakeholders on possible risk management responses to identified risks and/ or findings of concern from investigations- at client and portfolio level

  • Manage escalations on issues requiring additional assessment and controls.

  • Support and manage checks, queries and any other information requested by auditors (Internal & external),.

  • Support monthly assurance check and complete submission on time

Our Ideal Candidate


  • 3+years experience in CDD reviews and/or AML advisory

  • In-depth understanding of Financial Crime Compliance risk including Money Laundering risk (CAMS – Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist preferred

  • Proactive approach to recognising risk and stakeholder needs, solving problems, anticipating issues, and developing solutions, excellent business judgment and strategic thinking.

  • Understanding for regional diversity, capacity and curiosity to learn client risk profiles across different markets or complex client structures, to support effective customer due diligence

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation skills i.e., PowerPoint, Excel

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in finance, accounting or business management

  • Working experience in performing Client Due Diligence reviews and/or AML advisory preferred
