Job summary

Nanyang Technological University in Singapore seeks an Assistant Manager to oversee the CAD laboratory operations and activities. You will provide technical and administrative support for teaching and research, and ensure safety compliance per ISO 45001 standards.

The role involves maintaining hardware, configuring systems, and managing lab resources to support teaching and research activities while ensuring timely procurement and inventory accuracy.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Manufacturing Engineering.
• 2–3 years in CAD/CAM environment.
• 1–2 years administering and configuring computer systems (IT knowledge).
• Knowledge of CAD/engineering software such as SolidWorks, SolidCAM, Ansys, Autodesk Fusion.
• Good hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of workplace safety practices.
• Able to support and assist students in teaching classes.
• Demonstrates initiative and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and administrative support for all undergraduate and research activities.
• Carry out all planned teaching supports of laboratory classes, experiments and projects.
• Maintain and configure computer hardware to ensure that they are in good working condition.
• Manage and troubleshoot hardware and software issues in computers and Windows servers.
• Procure laboratory software, equipment, and consumables in a timely manner and in accordance with school/university purchasing guidelines.
• Laboratory asset management and maintaining proper records for inventory auditing.
• Ensure safety practices in the laboratory.
• Carry out housekeeping of the laboratory.
• Conduct safety risk assessments for all equipment and processes.
• Ensure laboratory equipment is properly maintained, safe to operate and in good working condition.
• To ensure that lab’s resources are sufficient to function as a teaching/ research laboratory.
