Job Summary
Bunker Trader at Oilmar will manage marine fuel trading activities, negotiate contracts, analyze market trends, and coordinate logistics to ensure profitable and compliant fuel supply to vessels in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute back-to-back bunker trading activities to achieve profitable transactions.
- Source marine fuel, negotiate contracts, and schedule deliveries to meet client and supplier requirements.
- Develop and maintain business relationships with shipping companies, bunker suppliers, and stakeholders to identify new opportunities.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to maximize profitability and manage risk exposure effectively.
- Analyze market trends, pricing, supply and demand dynamics, and geopolitical factors impacting marine fuels to inform trading decisions.
- Manage trading risks including credit exposure and delivery risks in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the entire supply chain and trade process, including loading, operations, delivery, and payment phases to ensure smooth execution.
- Coordinate with operations teams to guarantee timely delivery and quality assurance of marine fuels.
- Resolve operational issues, disputes, or claims related to bunker quality, quantity, or delivery in collaboration with claims specialists.
- Maintain accurate records of trades, contracts, and communications using company databases or MS Dynamics.
- Support the Invoice/Debt Collector to ensure timely collection of payments related to trades.
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Maritime Studies, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in bunker trading or related maritime industry roles.
- Strong knowledge of maritime industry operations, fuel specifications, and international bunkering regulations.
- Proven contract negotiation skills with suppliers and clients.
- Ability to analyze financial markets, manage risks, and interpret market trends and pricing.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and pollution prevention best practices in the maritime sector.
- Demonstrated teamwork and positive attitude.
- Strong compliance orientation and organizational skills.
