Job summary

Singapore Cycling Federation invites a strategic leader to steer BMX's direction, building a pathway from Affiliated Clubs through to the Youth Development Squad, National Development Squad and National Training Squad in line with MYSP 2026-2031.

You will oversee Club Education, establish a Schools Competition, implement a Medal-Winning Strategy and Coach Mentorship, and coordinate multi-year training, budgeting and reporting with SCF's High Performance team.

  • Plan, coordinate and review the National BMX Squad’s multi-year periodised training plan.
  • Coordinate quarterly performance profiling to refine athlete selection.

Job description

Overall Job Purpose

To lead the strategic and technical direction of BMX in Singapore, building a pathway from Affiliated Clubs through to the Youth Development Squad (YDS), National Development Squad (NDS) and National Training Squad (NTS), in accordance with the MYSP 2026-2031.

To take direct oversight of the NDS and NTS from 2027, working alongside the Youth & National BMX Coach to prepare athletes in the areas of Physical, Technical, Tactical, Mental and Connectedness for Major Games and all other competitions and training stints.

To lead Club Education, the establishment of a Schools Competition, SCF’s BMX Medal-Winning Strategy and Coach Mentorship, establishing a sustainable pathway from Clubs to High Performance in line with the opening of the BMX Track.

Duties & Responsibilities
Club Education

Deliver structured coach education and engagement across all affiliated BMX clubs, building on the MYSP target of 12 club coach engagement sessions in 2027.

Standardise a coaching framework and curriculum across the growing club coach cohort (≥7Coach-SG Level 1 and ≥1 Level 2 BMX Racing coaches by 2028), raising coaching quality and consistency from grassroots clubs through to the NDS.

Manage the ongoing development of a coaching structure in BMX that supports coaches and cyclists at all levels of the sport.

Establishment of a Schools Competition

Leadclub and SCF outreach to schools from 2028 to build a structured inter-schoolBMX competition framework.

Establish the first inter-school BMX competition alongside the SEA Games 2029, laying the foundation for a future National School Games pathway.

Support the MYSP goals of a 50% increase in student-riders in Singapore Sports Schools by 2028/29 and a BMX Academy in Singapore Sports Schools by 2030/31.

Medal-Winning Strategy

Develop a long-term High-Performance Plan for BMX Cycling, in consultation with SCF’s Head Coach, High-Performance Director and High-Performance Sub-Committee, to meet SCF’s BMX potential podium targets at the SEA, Asian Games and Asian Cycling Championships 2027 - 2030).

Take direct oversight of the NDS and NTS from 2027, preparing athletes for Major Games and all other competitions and training stints.

Plan, coordinate and review the National BMX Squad’s (and YDS/NDS) multi-year periodised training plan.

Plan, coordinate and conduct quarterly performance profiling to refine and add value to SCF’s athlete selection process.

Coach Mentorship

Establish a formal mentoring structure for club, YDS and NDS coaches, mentoring in particular the Youth & National BMX Coach, consistent with the MYSP Coaching pillar.

Conduct technical courses and practical coaching attachments for identified coaches, when necessary.

Support the transition of YDS to club-based coaching in 2027 and build sustainable, Singapore-based coaching capability for the long term.

Development of BMX Racing

Develop a training syllabus, daily session plans, and scheduling of participants and coaches specific to the BMX Track, in conjunction with the SCF Head Coach and High-Performance Director.

Budget Management

Prepare the National BMX Squad’s (and NDS/YDS) budget in consultation with SCF’s High Performance Manager and submit to SCF’s Board for final approval.

Reports

Regularly keep SCF High Performance Sub-Committee informed of updates and progress against the priority areas.

Submit quarterly reports to SCF High Performance Sub-Committee on progress made in specified areas of responsibility.

Submit all other reports and statistics as and when required.

Report to the SCF High Performance Director, Head Coach and High Performance Manager.
