Job summary

NEUTRON PTE. LTD. is seeking a backend engineer to design, develop and maintain secure, high-performance services and APIs using Java and related frameworks.

You will ensure data integrity for tax submissions, and integrate the portal with internal systems and government services in a secure manner. Qualifications

• Backend experience in Java or Typescript, with Java preferred
• Strong OO design, data structures and software fundamentals
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs
• Working with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle or MySQL) and SQL
• Git and collaborative development workflows
• Secure coding practices for handling sensitive data
• Strong problem-solving and clear communication to stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain secure, high-performance backend services and APIs using Java and frameworks (e.g. Spring Boot)
• Build and optimise data access layers ensuring accuracy and integrity of tax submission data
• Integrate the portal with internal systems and whole-of-government services via secure interfaces
• Implement validation, audit and reconciliation logic for compliance
• Write clean, well-tested code with unit/integration/automation tests
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions and architecture decisions
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across the platform lifecycle
• Collaborate with product, business analysts, security and operations to deliver policy-aligned features
