Job summary

ByteDance seeks a versatile engineer to lead the design and development of the search system architecture, ensuring stability and high availability for both online services and offline data pipelines.

You will optimize performance, tackle bottlenecks, and support large-scale machine learning optimization, focusing on high-concurrency, high-throughput systems and integrating new technologies with the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience with building scalable systems (1+ year).
• Proficient in programming languages: C, C++, Java or Golang (C++ is a plus).
• Strong design and coding skills, ownership and drive.
• Experience in search engine, recommendations, ML, distributed storage or big data is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop the search system architecture for high availability.
• Ensure online services and data flow performance are optimized.
• Identify bottlenecks and reduce costs while unlocking performance gains.
• Develop core components and new technologies for search systems.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate software and hardware.
• Analyze user needs to deliver robust software solutions.
• Update and test software and validate changes.
