Job summary

ByteDance Singapore is seeking a skilled software engineer to design and develop the global e-commerce search system. You will optimize architecture for high availability and performance, and work on core search capabilities for partners across a distributed environment.

The role emphasizes architecture abstraction, large-scale ML optimization, and collaboration with hardware teams to deliver reliable systems. Strong programming in C/C++, Java or Golang is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above, majoring in Computer Science, or related fields.
• Experience in programming, including C, C++, Java or Golang.
• Solid programming ability, design, and code quality; enthusiastic about technical challenges.
• Effective communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.
• Experience in or exposure to personalized recommendations, search engine, machine learning, distributed storage systems, or big data frameworks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the global e-commerce search system and its related products; address architecture optimization for the search system.
• Support design and development of the global e-commerce search system and deliver core search capabilities to partners.
• Focus on architecture abstraction and process optimization for search scenarios; support large-scale ML optimization.
• Focus on large-scale systems with high concurrency and throughput; improve stability, performance, and scalability.
• Research, design, and develop core components and new technologies.
• Develop software and its testing/validation procedures; update software to enhance capabilities.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate hardware and software systems and define specifications.

About the team

Our Search Architecture Team is responsible for building up and optimizing the architecture for our Search Engine to provide the best experience for our Search users.

This person will be responsible for the design and development of the global e-commerce search system architecture, ensuring system stability and high availability; responsible for online services, offline data flow performance optimization, solving performance bottlenecks, reducing costs and unlocking.

Responsibilities

• -Responsible for the global e-commerce search system and its affiliated products, and solve the architecture optimization problem of the search architecture system;
• -Support the design and development of the global e-commerce search system , and the output core search capabilities of bytes and high-quality content to partners;
• -Focus on Architecture abstraction and process optimization for search scenarios, support large-scale machine learning optimization;
• -Focus on large-scale systems with high concurrency and high throughput, improve system stability, performance, and scalability;
• -Research and development and optimization of core components, application and implementation of new technologies;
• -Research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialised utility programs;
• -Analyse user needs and develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis;
• -Update software, enhances existing software capabilities, and develops and direct software testing and validation procedures;
• -Work with computer hardware engineers to integrate hardware and software systems and develop specifications and performance requirements.

• - Bachelor's degree or above, majoring in Computer Science, or related fields;
• - Experience in programming, included but not limited to, the following programming languages: C, C++, Java or Golang;
• - Solid programming ability, excellent design and code style, enthusiastic about technical challenges;
• - Effective communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive;
• - Experienced in at least one area of the following areas: personalized recommendations, search engine, machine learning, distributed storage system, big data frameworks is a plus.
