Job summary

Tencent is offering a paid internship in Singapore focused on backend software development. You will work with senior engineers on new projects end-to-end, contributing to the WeChat ecosystem and core product development for a global user base.

You will gain hands-on experience in software development, project management, and learn Tencent values and culture. The program culminates with potential full-time opportunities in backend development or related areas.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related fields
• Proficiency in backend software design, development, and deployment with C++, Python, Golang, Java, or Scala
• Familiarity with Linux OS and common system tools
• Experience with big data/streaming frameworks (Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Kafka, Flink, Iceberg) is a plus
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is an asset
• Strong ownership, customer‑oriented values, and integrity
• English and Mandarin proficiency required for meetings and materials with global teams

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative IT solutions that drive business impact using cutting‑edge technologies
• Collaborate with Product and Safety teams to deliver robust online services that meet requirements
• Design and implement data safety, compliance and service reliability improvements for users worldwide
• Work with partners to define processes and develop internal/external tools for core operations (user ops, safety ops, developer ops, service reliability)
• Assist teams in making WeChat features available, safe, and compliant for users globally
