Job summary

Grab is seeking a Backend Software Engineer Intern for an onsite internship in Singapore (Jan–May/Jun 2027). You’ll work with experienced engineers to enhance internal applications, services, and AI-enabled workflows, from prototyping to deployment and monitoring.

Qualifications

• Pursuing degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Data Science, AI or related field.
• Practical programming experience in Python or another mainstream language (coursework, projects, internships).
• Understanding of software engineering fundamentals: version control, modular design, debugging, automated testing.
• Working knowledge of APIs, HTTP, JSON, databases and SQL.
• Understanding AI concepts: LLMs, prompting, embeddings, retrieval-augmented generation, model evaluation.
• Experience using AI tools and emerging tech to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and develop internal applications, services, integrations, and workflow automations for IT service management and service operations.
• Build AI-enabled workflows using language models, prompts, retrieval, tools, APIs, structured data, and human approvals.
• Integrate solutions with enterprise systems, telemetry sources, knowledge repositories, and internal APIs.
• Write readable, modular, and tested code; participate in code reviews; maintain technical documentation with secure practices.
• Develop and run evaluations of AI solutions for correctness, relevance, reliability, safety, latency, and impact.
• Support deployment, monitoring, and incident investigation by reviewing logs, metrics, and traces.
• Use approved GenAI tools to support coding, research, documentation, or testing, and review outputs before use.
