Job summary

Shopee is seeking a skilled backend engineer to design and build high-performance services that power personalized vouchers, promotions, and campaigns. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate marketplace opportunities into reliable, scalable engineering solutions.

You will productionize ML/optimization components, integrate model serving and decisioning into low-latency systems, and contribute to core capabilities for recommendations and campaign budgeting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS/Software Engineering or related field.
• Strong programming foundations in data structures, algorithms, OS, networks, and systems.
• Proficient in Go and Python with Linux development familiarity.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Interest in distributed systems, microservices, and scalable backend design.
• Self-motivated, eager to learn, and capable of solving challenging technical problems with business impact.

Responsibilities

• Design and build high-performance backend services and distributed systems powering vouchers, promotions, and campaigns.
• Collaborate with Product, Business, Data Science, Ads, Search, and Recommendation teams to implement scalable engineering solutions.
• Productionize ML and optimization capabilities by integrating model serving, experimentation, and decisioning into low-latency systems.
• Apply AI technologies (LLMs, AI agents) to improve efficiency and automation of campaigns.
• Develop core capabilities for personalized recommendations and promotion optimization.
• Ensure reliability with resilient API design, caching, asynchronous processing, and observability.
