Job summary

SMBC Group is seeking an AVP - Data Governance Operationalization to drive governance and regulatory data initiatives. The role emphasizes data governance operationalization, metadata, and data quality across risk, finance, compliance and technology teams.

The candidate will help implement governance artefacts, support enterprise data dictionary efforts, and contribute to reporting automation initiatives, with exposure to offshore delivery models and standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Data Governance or Data Management experience in banking or financial services.
• Knowledge of data lineage, metadata management and data quality practices.
• Experience supporting KDE, governance artefacts and regulatory initiatives.
• Understanding RBI regulatory expectations related to Data Governance and Reporting.
• Ability to translate regulatory requirements into operational deliverables.
• Experience collaborating with Risk, Finance, Compliance and Tech teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform Data Governance Operationalization across business domains.
• Capture KDE, metadata, ownership and control requirements.
• Design and monitor Data Quality controls and remediation tracking.
• Develop lineage, ownership and governance artefacts aligned to standards.
• Support RBI data initiatives including Enterprise Data Dictionary.
• Assist regulatory reporting automation through requirements gathering.
• Coordinate governance forums and stakeholder engagement.
• Contribute to offshore DMO capabilities, procedures and knowledge transfer.
• Gather DG tooling and regulatory reporting requirements with stakeholders.
