Job Type: Permanent

GIC is one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds. Working at GIC gives you exposure to an extraordinary network of the world’s industry leaders. As a leading global long-term investor, we Work at the Point of Impact for Singapore’s financial future, and the communities we invest in worldwide.

Portfolio Execution & Solutions Group (PESG)

The Portfolio Execution & Solutions Group (PESG) oversees the end-to-end completion and implementation of GIC’s Total Portfolio. With teams in Singapore, London, and NewYork, PESG provides a full spectrum of services for the Total Portfolio. These include trading, funding and liquidity management, securities financing, portfolio rebalancing, applied quantitative research, and counterparty relationship management. The team also delivers systematic portfolio solutions and innovation, such as portfolio construction techniques and tail-risk management, to strengthen total portfolio construction and resilience. Working closely with other investment teams, PESG provides tailored execution solutions and advisory, leveraging market insights, advanced data analytics and technology to ensure investment ideas are implemented with precision to achieve optimal portfolio outcomes. Through its integrated approach, PESG ensures GIC’s Total Portfolio is managed seamlessly and dynamically to support long-term capital allocation, risk management, and investment resiliency, all while keeping GIC agile and well positioned to capture opportunities across market cycles.

What will you do as an AVP, Business Solutions & Analytics?

As an in-business analyst, you will partner with functions across PESG to understand the group's goals and challenges, applying data, quantitative analytics and data engineering to recommend impactful solutions and build new capabilities. Working with corporate partners and drawing on information across GIC, you will support PESG's core functions: Balance Sheet Management Group, Global Trading Unit, Beta & Asset Rebalancing, and Total Portfolio Solutions. You will work directly with research professionals and portfolio managers as part of the research value chain – from constructing specialised datasets to building, testing and scaling the analytics they rely on – with significant room to grow as the capability builds out.

  • Engage senior Front Office stakeholders across PESG to define and refine business solutions needs against broader departmental and firm-wide initiatives.
  • Partner with research professionals and portfolio managers to translate investment questions into quantitative models, contributing to model design, implementation, backtesting and independent validation.
  • Act as the point person within your assigned PESG coverage for demand management and for planning capability roadmaps.
  • Work with the firm’s data experts to source and structure fit-for-purpose specialised datasets which allow research and analytical work to scale.
  • Oversee timely delivery of impactful business and quantitative analysis through efficient processes that leverage platforms, technology and artificial intelligence (AI) tools, applying AI to accelerate data preparation, model development and research workflows while continuously assessing improvements and innovations.
  • Apply data analysis across multiple data domains on Databricks and utilise visualisation tools supplemented by AI to communicate complex information clearly and effectively to researchers, portfolio managers and a range of other Front Office stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with partners across technology, operations, and risk departments, to enable capabilities that meet Front Office business needs.
  • Proactively share learnings and provide guidance to team members to uplift service levels and deepen business knowledge across the team.
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Financial Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics), or in Finance with strong quantitative content, with a focus on financial markets and multi-asset / traded instruments. Relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) preferred.
  • 6-8 years of experience in asset management, financial services, or a related industry, with a track record of driving analytics and business solutioning initiatives. Hands-on experience developing and backtesting quantitative models and specialised datasets in support of research or investment teams is strongly preferred. Experience supporting portfolio execution, trading or portfolio management in a front office setting is an advantage.
  • Strong programming and data skills: Python and SQL for analysis and modelling, with working knowledge of data engineering practices. Experience with data visualisation tools (Tableau/Databricks). Intermediate Excel skills preferred.
  • Fluent in using AI tools as part of daily workflows to enhance productivity and analytical output, and able to apply AI and machine learning techniques to advance specialised data, model development and research processes.
  • High analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and presentation abilities, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Strong business acumen and confidence in managing senior stakeholders. Self-driven and well organised while juggling multiple work streams.
  • Good understanding of asset management principles, investment strategies, and market dynamics. Good understanding of portfolio execution, financing and liquidity management, and multi-asset instruments across the trade lifecycle, including their risk and performance characteristics.
  • Familiarity with quantitative research methods such as statistical inference, time-series analysis and backtest design, including the discipline to guard against overfitting, look-ahead bias and data quality issues is a strong advantage, though not a prerequisite.
