As a leading global long‑term investor, we work at the point of impact for Singapore's financial future, and the communities we invest in worldwide.

GIS provides strategic investment services and financial management across GIC's public and private market asset classes. Leveraging data and emerging technologies, the department drives the development and execution of business infrastructure plans while shaping scalable, agile, and resilient operating models that enable growth and deliver operational excellence. GIS provides operational expertise spanning market settlements, transaction management and execution, investment data operations, portfolio finance, valuations, accounting, and tax services, as well as portfolio administration.

Group Controllers (GC)

The GIS department at GIC is looking to onboard an Associate/AVP to play a role on group controllership, including but not limited to accounting, financial reporting, FP&A, and data management for GIC’s investments.

What will you do as a Group Controller?
Centralized Accounting Operations
  • Manage key accounting processes as part of a centralized finance function for group level accounts and its subsidiaries, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with internal policies and deadlines.
    • Accounting Transaction Processing: Oversee the end-to-end processing of accounting book of record derived from investment and financial transactions, ensuring all relevant data and activities are accurately captured and updated in the accounting and management systems. This includes timely input of accounting entries and maintaining up-to-date records to support effective financial management.
    • Account Reconciliation: Ensure that all account reconciliations, including cash and intercompany balances, are completed promptly and accurately to maintain the integrity of financial records.
    • Exception Management & Issue Resolution: Proactively review exception items and alerts generated by accounting system dashboards. Collaborate closely with the internal teams and service vendors to investigate, resolve, and prevent recurring issues, thereby supporting data accuracy and process reliability.
    • General Ledger (GL) Close Monitoring: Oversee and monitor the quarterly GL closing process in the accounting system, ensuring that all entries recorded correctly and consistently across all portfolio groups and that the close is completed within established timelines.
    • Management Accounts Review: Timely review of in-house management accounts to ensure books of records are accurate and made available for downstream usage.
    • Outsourced Accounting Records: Ensure timely receipt of outsourced quarterly accounting packages and reports from accounting agents. Diligently review these reports, identify and resolve any exception items, and ensure that all external deliverables meet the organization's standards for accuracy and completeness.
Audit Support
  • Review the annual accounts of investment holding companies, prepare supporting documentation, and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors to facilitate smooth and successful audit processes.
  • Continuous improvements on the global audit program through post audit review actions.
Finance Transformation
  • Drive improvements and initiatives by redesigning processes, implementing new technologies, and enhancing data analytics capabilities. This position works closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities for efficiency, automation, and strategic value, ensuring that the Group Controllers adapt to evolving business needs and regulatory requirements.
Data Management
  • Maintain and oversee the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of ABOR Data used in day-to-day portfolio management.
  • Investigate and resolve data issues, quality breaks, and process gaps that impact downstream investment and reporting systems.
  • Serve as a data Subject Matter Expert, working with stakeholders to understand data requirements across the investment lifecycle and advising on appropriate data usage.
  • Perform data stewardship responsibilities, ensuring reference data aligns with enterprise definitions, standards, and control frameworks.
  • Partner with third-party data providers and internal operations teams to resolve data discrepancies and implement data governance standards.
Portfolio Solutions Development
  • Partner with technology teams and managed service providers to operate and enhance data platforms.
  • Support assessments of data and operational readiness for new investment products, structures, markets, and processes.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and business validation for data changes and enhancements.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and change initiatives, including opportunities to reinvigorate ABOR data operations, strengthen controls, and improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of GIC's data management capabilities by applying industry best practices and emerging tools, including automation or AI-enabled capabilities where appropriate.
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
