Job summary

VDL ETG Singapore is seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement robotics-based automation systems for integrated manufacturing lines.

You will work on AI-driven process optimization, defect detection, and real-time monitoring within MES-enabled environments, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure reliable, scalable solutions.

Strong knowledge of PLCs and industrial protocols is desirable, with a focus on delivering high-quality outputs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in automation-related field.
• Experience in automation engineering with a focus on AI/robotics preferred.
• Knowledge of PLC programming and industrial communication protocols.

Responsibilities

Key Area of Responsibilities

• Design and implement robotic systems for automated assembly processes
• Liaise with stakeholders and develop AI-driven solutions for process optimization and defect detection

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Automation Engineering, Robotics, AI, Mechatronics, Mechanical or a related field
• Experience in automation engineering with a focus on AI and robotics is preferred
• Familiarity with PLC programming and industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, Modbus, IoT etc)
• Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Proficiency in programming languages (e.g Python)
• Proven track record in designing and deploying robotic systems and AI-driven inspection tools is preferred
• Knowledge of AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) including machine learning algorithm and robotic platforms is preferred
