InCommodities Asia-Pacific is seeking an experienced Power Trader to focus on Australian ASX and OTC electricity markets from Singapore and Sydney. You’ll work with quants, tech and risk teams to design, execute and evaluate strategies across the futures curve, with emphasis on performance, risk controls, and automation.

Responsibilities

• Own the ASX and OTC broker and screen execution function for our Australian power business.
• Work alongside a highly experienced team in day-to-day operations.
• Build and maintain a strong network of relationships across brokers and counterparties.
• Optimise and execute on existing prop and portfolio positions.
• Design and execute strategies across the curve including Spot, Options, Caps and other OTC products.
• Partner with quants to test hypotheses and AI/ML models, iterating on performance and signal health.
• Coordinate with operations and risk teams to keep trades executable and settlements clean.
• Run post-trade evaluations – attribution, slippage, lessons learned.
• Contribute to model design and automation for backtesting, monitoring and reporting.

As an experienced, high-performing Power Trader, you'll focus on short-to-medium term horizons, trading Australian ASX and OTC electricity products across the whole Futures market tenor. You'll work closely with quants, tech specialists and ops teams to design, execute and evaluate strategies with measurable outcomes.

What you'll do:

• Own the ASX and OTC broker and screen execution function for our Australian power business.


• Work alongside a highly experienced team that has your back in day-to-day operations and interactions.


• Build and maintain a strong network of relationships across brokers and counterparties.


• Optimise and execute on our existing prop and portfolio positions.


• Design and execute strategies throughout the curve, including Spot, Options, Caps and other OTC products.


• Partner with quants to test hypotheses and AI/ML models, and keep iterating on performance and signal health.


• Coordinate with operations and risk teams to keep trades executable, nominations accurate, and settlement clean.


• Run post-trade evaluations - attribution, slippage, lessons learned - scaling what works and retiring what doesn't.


• Contribute to model design and modern automation methods for backtesting, monitoring and reporting.

Your team

You'll join our established Australian Energy Trading team, based in Singapore and Sydney. We work side by side - traders, quants and tech - backed by ops, legal and strategy teams across APAC. Structures are flat, accountability is high, and collaboration is fast and open.

What you bring

You probably tick most of these boxes:

• Minimum 5 years' experience trading the Australian energy markets.


• A proven track record of book management.


• Fluency in fundamental drivers (weather, demand, outages, fuel, transmission constraints) and statistical/quant methods.


• Process discipline: pre-trade checklist, scenario thinking, risk awareness and clear documentation.


• Strong communication skills with traders, quants, ops and risk.


• Calm, methodical and accountable - you follow process, adapt to data, and create value over the short and long term.
