ATHEL ASSURANCE PUBLIC ACCOUNTING CORPORATION seeks an experienced audit professional to lead a team of Assurance Associates, oversee audit engagements and ensure SSA-aligned work papers. You will guide juniors, train staff, and help develop SOPs for audit processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
  • ACCA/SCAQ or equivalent advantageous.
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience, including 2 years in a supervisory role (preferably Big 4/mid-tier).
  • Experience with CaseWare is a beneficial skill.
  • Strong knowledge of SSA, Financial Reporting Standards in Singapore (FRS), and statutory compliance.
  • Demonstrated leadership, strong English communication, and collaborative abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent audit procedures and maintain audit work papers following SSA, gathering audit evidence for assigned engagements.
  • Prepare audited/unaudited financial statements in accordance with FRSs or relevant standards.
  • Supervise a team of associates/seniors in executing high-quality assurance engagements.
  • Provide on-the-job training (OJT) to team members and contribute to training materials.
  • Contribute to developing SOPs for audit procedures.
  • Communicate issues promptly to partners in an organized manner.
  • Offer guidance to clients on corporate secretary matters, finance operations, and reporting as needed.

Job description

This role entails managerial responsibilities, where you will lead a team of Assurance Associates and oversee their audit engagements. Additionally, you will be performing assurance work in accordance with the Singapore Standards of Auditing (SSA).

The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong desire to excel in the field of auditing, possess excellent communication skills, have a solid understanding of auditing principles aligned with SSA and Financial Reporting Standards in Singapore (FRSs), and exhibit strong analytical skills with a commercial mindset.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Conduct independent audit procedures and maintain audit work papers following SSA, while gathering necessary audit evidence for assigned engagements.

  • Prepare audited/unaudited financial statements in accordance with FRSs or relevant standards as applicable.

  • Supervise a team of associates/seniors in executing high-quality assurance engagements.

  • Provide on-the-job training (OJT) to team members, actively imparting technical skills.

  • Assist in creating internal training materials for structured training sessions during off-peak periods.

  • Contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for audit procedures.

  • Communicate any issues promptly and in an organized manner to the respective partners.

  • Offer guidance to clients on corporate secretary matters, finance operations, accounting systems, accounting treatment, and reporting as needed.

Job Requirements:
  • Minimum bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent.

  • Professional qualifications such as ACCA/SCAQ or equivalent would be advantageous.

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience (preferably with a minimum of 2 years in a mid-tier/Big 4 audit environment), including a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role.

  • Experience with CaseWare is a beneficial skill.

  • Strong knowledge of statutory compliances (e.g., ACRA/tax filing deadlines), audit methodologies, and audit-related applications.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to provide guidance to newly joined associates.

  • A team player with excellent communication skills and a strong command of the English language.

  • Effective communication abilities to collaborate efficiently across all levels.
