Job summary

Join AECOM in Singapore as Associate Director, Mechanical for Data Centers. You will lead mechanical design delivery for hyperscale and co-location data centre projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and a global network to ensure client satisfaction and project excellence.

We seek an experienced mechanical engineer with data centre expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to drive bids, proposals, and sector growth while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level or higher in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Professional certification related to data centres or mechanical design is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with data centre mechanical systems and design.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills in multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design for data center projects, ensuring outputs meet client needs.
  • Define objectives, schedules and resources, and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Strengthen client partnerships by understanding their business and requirements.
  • Lead bid and proposal development and sector growth activities.
  • Coordinate with global Data Centre network to ensure seamless service delivery.

Job Description

Working within our Data Centres Market Sector, you will act as a key ambassador for the data centre community across Singapore and within AECOM globally. With proven experience delivering data centre projects for major technology clients, you will lead electrical engineering within multi-disciplinary teams and collaborate closely with our global Data Centre network.

Due to continued growth in our Technology / Data Centre Sector, we are seeking an experienced Associate Director - MechanicalData Centre Designwith a strong track record in project delivery. This role is central to strengthening AECOM’s position in the Hyperscale and Co-location markets and contributing to sector strategy and Thought Leadership.

  • Lead mechanical designdelivery for data center projects, acting as a recognized technical expert and ensuring all outputs meet the needs of our diverse client base.
  • Drive project excellence by defining objectives and deliverables, organizing schedules and resources, applying strong engineering judgement, and ensuring consistent, high-quality standards across the Data Centre's Mechanicalsector.
  • Strengthen client partnerships by fully understanding their business, organizational structure and culture, and proactively responding to their requirements and market changes.
  • Lead sector growth activities, including bid and proposal development, thought leadership contributions, and ensuring seamless, co-ordinated mechanicalservices delivery across the projects.
    • Extensive experience delivering electrical engineering projects within Data Centres and other Mission Critical environments, with strong client-facing credentials and a reputation for technical excellence.
    • Proven capability in work winning alongside strong commercial acumen, including the management of project teams, budgets, schedules and quality.
    • In-depth knowledge of mechanical designand engineering practices for Data Centers, including power distribution, resilience, redundancy, and overall interface with client technical requirements.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively both internally and externally, and eligibility to obtain Baseline (or higher) AGSVA clearance.
    • Relevant professional qualifications, including a degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) certification, and registration or eligibility for registration (e.g., CPEng, NER), ideally complemented by Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with CIBSE or an equivalent institute.
