Job summary

GIC Private Limited seeks an Associate/AVP, Data Scientist in the Internal Audit Department to advance data analytics, machine learning, and GenAI-driven solutions for audit coverage.

You will work with a team of 7 data scientists to analyze large datasets, build ingestion pipelines in Snowflake/Databricks, and deliver actionable insights that inform risk decisions across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, IS or quantitative field.
• At least 3 years in data science or data engineering.
• Proficiency in Python and Python-based data workflows.
• Experience with SQL databases and big data platforms; ETL end-to-end.

Internal Audit Department (IAD)

Internal Audit Department (IAD) has been tasked with the mandate to foster a strong governance and control environment in GIC. IAD provides an independent assessment of GIC’s governance, risk management and internal control environment to key stakeholders including the Board of Directors and senior management. IAD acts as a trusted business partner working closely with the GIC group of companies and investment holding entities to bring about positive changes to the control environment and culture and thereby support senior management decision making.

Data Analytics

IAD has leveraged data science to achieve greater risk coverage, stronger assurance, and deeper business insight. Our data science capabilities include data extraction and transformation, machine learning for anomaly detection, building AI applications, and proficiency in efficient analysis of vast datasets. These capabilities have allowed IAD to progress towards a systematic, continuous audit approach with multi-dimensional analysis of complete data sets. With the strategy of integrating data science as a key IAD competency, existing talent are also equipped with new skillsets around the use of data analytics, programming languages and visualization tools.

What Impact can you make in this role?

We are looking for a suitable candidate to join our data analytics team as an Associate/AVP, Data Scientist, and be part of a dynamic team working alongside 7 data scientists.

What will you do as a Data Scientist?

• Leverage LLM and GenAI to develop, optimize, and maintain advanced solutions to support internal audit activities.
• Analyse heterogeneous and unstructured data and generate actionable insights to enhance risk and control activities.
• Develop and maintain data ingestion pipelines in the data warehouse (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks) to support audit data use cases.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to analyse large data sets, trends and results to drive data-driven operational risk decisions.
• Collaborate with an existing internal community of data scientists to solve complex problems and influence change.
• Keep abreast of technique development in data analytics and recommend adoption of best practices into GIC.

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or relevant quantitative fields.
• At least 3 yearsof experience in data science or data engineering.
• Highly proficient in Python and working experience with Python based data workflows.
• Experience in processing data in SQL databases and big data platforms, able to manipulate data sets and build end-to-end process from ETL.
• Good understanding with machine learning algorithms, statistical models and other common machine learning techniques.
• Passion for experimenting with new ideas, and hands-on experience using AI agents and agentic coding tools, such as Claude Code and OpenAI Codex.
• Familiarity with container technologies (e.g., Docker), container orchestration concepts, and CI/CD pipelines is considered a strong plus.
• Strong analytical and organization skills, with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical work and findings clearly to a range of stakeholders, including auditors, technical support teams and engineers.
• Self-motivated and driven, able to work independently on technical projects and be a team player.
