Job summary

Methodist Welfare Services in Singapore is seeking a dedicated social worker to provide casework and counselling, integrating risk assessments and advocating for vulnerable families through collaboration with community partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Social Work or Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • Degree in Counselling, Psychology or Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • At least 3 years of relevant social work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Casework and counselling with risk assessment for moderately complex cases.
  • Lead or co-lead group or community work with staff and partners.
  • Supervise staff to ensure compliance with tools, templates and policies.
  • Support operational implementation of centre policies and protocols.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Casework and CounsellingTo readily identify and assess risks inherent in moderately complex cases by integrating a range of information.
    To readily use professional tools and working templates to guide staff in case assessment and case planning
    To represent the centre in its advocacy efforts for vulnerable families, with the aim of advocating for these families to have access to equal opportunities through collaborative practice with community partners
  • Groupwork and/or Community WorkTo lead or co-lead with another senior/assistant senior in the conduct of client/community assessments, adapt group/community work processes and specialized intervention strategies
  • Supervisory DutiesTo monitor supervisees' compliance to professional processes (such as the use of tools and templates, adherence to practice policies)
    To assess supervisees' capabilities, identify professional growth areas and build training interventions to meet the growth areas.
  • Operational Managerial Skills (Operational Processes, Policies and Protocols)To support the Assistant Senior/ Senior/ Lead Professionals in the implementation of centre's operational and practice protocols, processes and policies
    Undertake any other duties assigned by the Head of Centre
Qualifications, Competencies & Experiences
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work from an accredited institution/ Degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work from an accredited institution
  • At least 3 years relevant experience in social work practice.
  • Inclination towards research and planning is an advantage
  • Possess relational skills to effectively network with government agencies, churches and community partners to place the agencies and the organization in good standing for the benefit of clients.
  • A good understanding of the quality standards required of each service under his/her purview
  • Knowledge and ability to engage, assess, provide intervention and evaluate practice
  • Ability to understand client groups and manage risk and protective factors
  • Ability to demonstrate reflective practice
  • Ability to engage stakeholders and partners
  • Knowledge and application of SASW code of professional ethics and Code of Social Work Practice
  • Knowledge of systems and availability of resources with a view to represent clients' needs
  • Knowledge and ability to empower clients to access needed resources
  • Ability to identify available resources, social gaps and conduct relevant analyses
  • Possess cultural understanding and social sensitivity
  • Understand self, personal values, beliefs and the way these impact the working relationship with clients
  • Engage in self-careand active learning
  • Possess a positive attitude with good interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Competent in MS Office skills
  • Able to lead and manage a group of social workers to achieve project outcomes
