Job summary

ST Engineering Marine Ltd. is seeking a seasoned department head to lead electrical/electronic engineering teams in a marine setting. You will deploy projects, set productivity targets, and supervise staff performance while ensuring adherence to class and SOLAS requirements.

The role includes manpower planning, recruitment, and periodic appraisals, with a focus on quality and safety. Location at Benoi Road, five-day work week, standard hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic engineering.
• 5–8 years of experience in the marine industry or similar capacity.
• Knowledge of shipbuilding methods and construction.
• Experience in improving department productivity.
• Knowledge of class and SOLAS requirements.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and assign projects to supervisors and monitor progress.
• Set productivity targets for the team and review results.
• Evaluate staff work performance under charge as required.
• Plan department manpower projections and highlight gaps.
• Manage department recruitment, contracts and appraisals.
• Ensure operations follow QPM and participate in meetings.
• Monitor safety programs and implement departmental safety plan.

Responsibilities

Productivity:

• Deploy and assign projects to his supervisors
• Set productivity targets for his team
• Evaluate and assess staff work performance under his charge as per required
• Assess on-board or in-workshop work progress, verify against reported work progress
• Plan department manpower projections, and highlights shortfall or spare resources
• Assess and identify training needs for his subordinates
• Manage departmental staff recruitment, contract renewal and periodic appraisal
• Attend Operation meeting
• Ensure work carried out according to QPM

Quality:

• Manage departmental improvement processes to improve quality of work

Safety:

• Monitor and review departmental BBS and hazard reporting program
• Implement divisional and departmental safety work plan
• Perform safety audits on departmental safety practices and employees
• Develop accident prevention program for department

• Develop department's skill training to meet its skill objectives
• Attend VSCC meeting (if require)

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical or Electronic engineering
• Preferably 5 - 8 years of working experiences in marine industry or similar capacity
• Good knowledge and exposure of shipbuilding methods and construction
• Experience in improving department productivity.
• Knowledge of class and Solas requirement

• Location: Benoi Road (Island-wide transport provided)
• 5 days work week
• Working Hours: 7.25am-5pm
