Job summary

VSC OVERSEAS PTE. LTD. is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support daily cooking duties in a fast-paced restaurant environment in Singapore. You will assist the Head Chef in meal preparation, ingredient washing and portioning, and ensure hygiene and safety standards are consistently met.

The role requires the ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when needed, with physical stamina to stand for long hours and strong teamwork to maintain smooth operations.

Qualifications

• Relevant kitchen or cooking experience is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
• Able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Physically fit and able to stand for long hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef/Cook in preparing and cooking food according to the restaurant's recipes and standards.
• Prepare ingredients such as washing, cutting, chopping, marinating, and portioning meat, vegetables, and other food items.
• Assist in cooking and preparing dishes during daily operations.
• Ensure food is prepared hygienically and according to food safety requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, cooking equipment, utensils, workstations, and storage areas.
• Assist with receiving, checking, and properly storing food supplies and ingredients.
• Monitor food freshness and assist in stock rotation using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method.
• Assist with food portion control to minimise food wastage.
• Follow instructions from the Chef, Kitchen Supervisor, or Restaurant Manager.
• Assist with opening and closing kitchen duties.
• Ensure proper handling and disposal of food waste and maintain good kitchen hygiene.
• Comply with all workplace safety, food hygiene, and company procedures.
• Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned by the management.
