Job summary

VDL Enabling Technologies Group (Singapore) Pte Ltd is seeking a tooling engineer to support the project lead in planning, designing, and developing assembly tooling solutions. You will ensure alignment with requirements, manage costs, and create tooling designs from concept to completion with material selection and detailed drawings.

Responsibilities include defining manufacturing processes, sourcing materials at competitive prices, validating tooling, and driving continual improvement.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Precision Engineering or related engineering field.
• Hands-on precision machining experience is preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly to different stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead in project plans with conceptual design to ensure alignment with requirement and design specifications.
• Support lead in the estimation of project costs and lead time for tooling development, maintenance, and upgrades to ensure effective cost control of the project.
• Create tooling designs from concept to completion, material selection, detailed engineering, drawings, defining manufacturing processes.
• Assist lead in collating and recording all estimated costs in preparation for regular review.
• Develop and implement CNC machining processes, including tool selection, fixture design, and machining strategies.
• Participate in continual improvement initiatives and take accountability for own development plan.

Job description

Responsible for assisting project lead in planning, designing, and developing assembly tooling solutions, ensuring alignment with requirements and specifications while controlling costs and lead times. He/She creates tooling designs from concept to completion, including material selection and detailed engineering drawings, defining manufacturing processes, and sourcing materials and services at competitive prices to meet targets for quality, lead time, budget, and safety. Additionally, he/she validates and tests tooling, identifies improvement opportunities, and executes and reports on improvement plans to continually enhance processes and tooling solutions.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years experience in tooling related work, preferably with Hands-on Precision Machining experience.
• Ability to communicate clear to different stakeholder.
• Proficient in Mechanical Measurement.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools.
