Job summary

Public Service Division is seeking an Architect to help upgrade HDB towns and housing estates. You will review policies, conduct feasibility studies, and coordinate upgrade projects, ensuring community ties are preserved while rejuvenating the physical environment.

You will formulate briefs, brief advisers and residents, and participate in townhall meetings and community events, working both independently and in teams under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Architectural degree required (Board of Architects Singapore).
• 3–5 years of local building industry experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for renewal of existing HDB estates.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation and written skills.

[What the role is]

As an Architect in the Upgrading Programmes Section, you will be involved in the upgrading and rejuvenation of HDB Towns and housing estates, including the review of strategic policies and studies affecting existing HDB developments.

[What you will be working on]

• Review strategic policies and studies affecting existing HDB developments, with the objective of preserving community ties, transforming the physical environment, and maintaining older towns and estates.
• Conduct site/technical feasibility studies for various upgrading programmes.
• Project coordination and implementation of upgrading programmes for HDB Towns and housing estates.
• Formulate design briefs/Prepare materials and brief Advisers, Grassroots and residents.
• Participate in/lead Townhall Meetings, Working Committee Meetings, Community Walks, etc.
• Plan, document and develop best practices and processes for effective adoption by stakeholders.
• Undertake other ad-hoc studies.

[What we are looking for]

• Possess a relevant education background in Architecture (recognized under the Board of Architects Singapore).
• Bring at least 3 to 5 years of working experience in the local building industry.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to formulate practical solutions for the renewal and rejuvenation of existing HDB developments.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, presentation and written skills.
• Able to work independently as well as effectively in a team, within tight deadlines.
